๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Kayin New Land Party (KNLP/KNLA) Warned to Withdraw Encroaching Forces and Dismantle Newly Constructed Camps and Checkpoints in Northern Thantlang Region

May 26
Radio NUG

A public warning was issued on May 26, urging responsible officials of the Kayin New Land Party (KNLP/KNLA) to immediately withdraw their forces and dismantle their camps and checkpoints that have been recently constructed in the Special Administrative Region of Northern Thantlang.

This warning comes in light of an official directive issued by the Central Command of the Karen National Union (KNU), which had authorized intensified revolutionary operations within the territory of the Northern Thantlang Special Region.

According to the statement, the military activities of KNLP/KNLA within this designated revolutionary territory are directly interfering with the operations of the Special Regionโ€™s revolutionary forces. The KNLP/KNLA has expanded into the area, establishing camps and security checkpoints without coordination, thereby violating territorial and operational boundaries.

Specifically, in Ngwe Taung Village, a newly constructed KNLP military camp must be dismantled and withdrawn within one week, as per the notification.

The announcement further warns that should the KNLP/KNLA fail to comply and continue obstructing military operations in the area, any individual or organization responsible will be held accountable and decisive actions will be taken.

The Kayin New Land Party (KNLP/KNLA) was originally formed on July 26, 1994, through a public assembly encouraged by religious and local leaders. The group signed a ceasefire and peace agreement with the military and has been classified as an ethnic armed organization.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. After Nearly a Month of Offensive Maneuvers, Junta Troops Reach the Outskirts of Hpakant Town

May 26
Radio NUG

According to the Kachin News Group, junta troops conducting military operations in Kachin Stateโ€™s Hpakant Township for almost a month have now advanced to the outskirts of Hpakant Town via three separate military columns.

One of the columns, consisting of approximately 500 troops, advanced from the Kamaing side and was ambushed by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied revolutionary forces on May 23 near the villages of Pyaung Ohn, Yone Taung, and Nanttein.

Following the clash, the junta's forces split into three routesโ€”two through forest paths and one via the main roadโ€”subsequently disappearing from view. However, reports indicate that they reached the Hpakant side around 3:30 a.m. on May 26.

The offensive was launched in full force by the junta following April 25, when they initiated their campaign along the Kamaingโ€“Hpakant highway. Over the past month, they have managed to push through villages including Ma U Bin, Nant Yar, Sein Hpar, Kat Hmaw, Tantar Nyi Naung, Pyaung Ohn, and Yone Taung.

These villages had been under the control and administration of the KIA since April 2024, and the junta's current counteroffensive is a direct attempt to reclaim lost territory after nearly a year of KIA governance in the area.

Radio NUG

The headquarters of the juntaโ€™s Northwest Regional Military Command (NaMaKha), based in Monywa, Sagaing Region, was attacked with 107mm short-range rockets, according to a statement released by the No More Dictatorship (NMD) group.

The attack occurred at 6:49 p.m. on May 25, with seven rockets fired at the command center. Of these, six reportedly hit their intended targets.

Explosions resulting from the rocket strikes are believed to have caused damage within the compound, although the extent is still being assessed. Immediate retaliatory fire was reportedly returned by junta forces following the attack.

The operation was led by Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) in coordination with No More Dictatorship (NMD) and Shadow (Monywa). Local resistance groups, including Yan Gyi Aung, Budalin Mobile Team, Monywa Pa Ka Pha, the Golden Triangle Allied Battalion, and Justice Brother Force, also participated in the joint operation.

The Northwest Regional Command is the key military command responsible for overseeing junta operations in Sagaing, Magway, and Chin States. It has been directly involved in orchestrating airstrikes and massacres in the central regions, including the bombing of Ohtein Twin Village. Due to its role as a central hub for command and coordination of such attacks, the recent strike was designated as BWM Mission 39.

Radio NUG

In a joint operation, resistance forces launched a coordinated assault on the military council's checkpoint camp near the Taungtha-Kyaukpantaung Road in Mingalar Oo Ward and on staff housing in Buta Kone Ward, located in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region. According to a statement released by the Taungtha Pa Ka Pha, two junta soldiers were killed during the attack.

The checkpoint camp, which had been reinforced with concrete bunkers and defensive structures, was reportedly used by the junta to harass civilians and extort money from them daily. The assault on this camp, which occurred on May 22, resulted in the deaths of two junta soldiers, and additional personnel were reportedly injured.

Following the attack, junta troops abandoned the post and fled. Resistance forces seized approximately 9.6 million kyats in cash, one short firearm, 1,508 rounds of ammunition, four MA-1 magazines, and two G-3 magazines. The camp's guard huts were also set ablaze and destroyed.

During the simultaneous raid on the staff housing, eleven individualsโ€”described as junta informants and corrupt administrative staffโ€”were captured. Resistance groups stated this was part of their efforts to disrupt the military council's administrative machinery.

Additionally, a clash broke out with a junta military support vehicle. Two individuals onboardโ€”a junta soldier and a police officerโ€”were killed, and others sustained injuries.

The operation was jointly executed by:

Taungtha Township People's Defence Force (PDF),

Meiktila Township PDF, and

Nay Pyi Taw PDF Battalion No. (801), led by commander Yebaw Kee.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Resistance Group Invites Collaborators for Remote-Controlled Explosive Vehicle Production

May 26
Radio NUG

The Thapyaytaung People's Defence Force has announced its capability to produce unmanned explosive vehicles and is calling on interested resistance groups to collaborate in their deployment.

The vehicle can be fully remotely operated, and the group claims that it has the potential to neutralize junta checkpoints and police stations in a single strike.

However, due to limited availability of explosive materials, the group is seeking support from other units capable of contributing to the mission.

They added that with stronger support, it could be possible to scale up to larger vehicles equipped with remote-controlled detonation systems, showing promising potential for broader deployment.
