๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. "China’s Mediation in Myanmar Should Not Prolong the Lifespan of Military Dictatorship," Says Acting President Duwa Lashi La

At Cabinet Meeting No. 13/2025 of the National Unity Government (NUG), Acting President Duwa Lashi La made the following remarks:

“China’s mediation efforts in Myanmar should not serve to extend the longevity of the military dictatorship. We all should collectively urge that such interventions be based on those rightful foundations,” the Acting President stated.

He emphasized that certain views held by China regarding the NUG needed to be addressed and clarified. China has long approached the NUG with varied perceptions, and he stressed that the NUG must respond to these matters with seriousness and care. The Acting President reiterated that the NUG is not an adversary of China and does not represent any force that would undermine China’s interests. Therefore, he stated, it is necessary to clearly and firmly communicate this position.

Union Minister for Human Rights under the National Unity Government (NUG), U Aung Myo Min, announced that township-level human rights officers have successfully been trained to become human rights educators capable of conducting awareness and training sessions.

"A seven-day Human Rights Trainer Course for township human rights officers from Sagaing and Magway Regions has been successfully completed. The training enabled these officers to function as human rights educators, capable of guiding others and delivering awareness sessions. We have also been able to develop course plans for these trainings. Human rights education is a continuous necessity—needed everywhere and at all times. Especially during this revolutionary period, when various powers and authorities can easily erode people’s beliefs and convictions, it is essential to ensure that understanding and responsibility regarding human rights are not forgotten. We must educate on the duties and ethical responsibilities of those in positions of authority,” the minister stated.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Student Union Executive Committee Re-established at Pyay Education Degree College

On May 1, International Workers’ Day, the Executive Committee of the Student Union at Pyay Education Degree College was re-established, according to reports.

The original executive committee of the Student Union was first formed in December 2019 and re-formed for the second time on May 1, 2021. However, due to active participation in the struggle to dismantle military dictatorship—resulting in long prison sentences for some members and others stepping down—the committee had to be reorganized.

The re-established union has stated its continued commitment to four core objectives:

  1. The eradication of the military dictatorship,
  2. The pursuit of democracy,
  3. The establishment of a federal democratic union, and
  4. The release of unjustly detained political prisoners.

In Pyay Township, student organizations such as the Pyay University Student Union and the Basic Education Student Union are already active. With the re-formation of the Pyay Education Degree College Student Union, there are now three student unions operating within the township.

The Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU) expressed its congratulations and pride in the successful re-establishment of the executive committee at Pyay Education Degree College.
