๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. NUG and PDF Are Not Western Proxies, Only Accountable to the People of Myanmar, Open to Engagement with the International Community Including China

May 30 – Radio NUG

The National Unity Government (NUG) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) are not proxies of the West, but entities solely accountable to the people of Myanmar. They remain open to engagement with the international community, including China, according to a statement highlighted in the article “Support the People’s Revolution” by Daw Zin Mar Aung, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the NUG, published in The Bangkok Post on May 23, 2025.

“The National Unity Government (NUG) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) are not Western proxies. They are not accountable to any foreign government but only to the people of Myanmar. We are open to and willing to engage with any international actor or group that supports the progress of the people’s revolution. Under the leadership of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the National League for Democracy (NLD) had maintained strong relations with neighboring countries, including China, up until the 2021 coup. Even today, China remains a key diplomatic priority,” the article states.

The article asserts that Myanmar’s revolutionary movement is at a historic crossroads similar to China’s civil war period between 1927 and 1949, which led to the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The people of Myanmar are currently resisting a brutal military dictatorship, with the NUG and PDFs playing central roles in this struggle—not as tools of foreign powers, but as representatives of the genuine will of the Myanmar people. The movement has evolved from peaceful street protests to an armed resistance.

According to the article, the PDFs have successfully pushed back the Myanmar military, one of Southeast Asia’s largest armed forces, across the country. The junta now controls less than 25% of the nation. In contrast, civilian administration in resistance-held areas is increasingly stable, with local economies remaining functional.

The ultimate aspiration of the Myanmar people, the article notes, is not to dismantle the military altogether, but to reform it into a professional force that serves the people and answers to an elected civilian government. This objective aligns with China’s own vision of a “community with a shared future,” and Myanmar’s stability is portrayed as crucial to regional peace and China’s long-term interests.

The article also warns that the visible association between junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and Chinese President Xi Jinping could harm China’s long-term interests and Myanmar’s stability. It criticizes temporary ceasefires for prolonging the conflict and undermining the revolutionary momentum toward sustainable peace.

Rather than supporting the military regime’s "divide-and-rule" strategy, the article urges China to engage constructively with all political stakeholders in Myanmar, including the NUG and PDF. Such an inclusive approach, it argues, would foster long-term peace and serve China’s regional strategic interests as well.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. India For Myanmar Issues Warning for Myanmar Refugees and Displaced Persons to Remain Cautious

May 30 – Radio NUG

The India For Myanmar group issued a public warning on May 29, urging Myanmar refugees and displaced persons residing in India to remain cautious.

The advisory follows recent escalations in tensions between Pakistan and India, which have led the Indian government to intensify its crackdown on undocumented foreign nationals. Reports indicate that this has already resulted in forced repatriations, particularly targeting Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals.

India’s UNHCR office has reportedly transferred refugee data to the Indian authorities, raising concerns that even those officially registered with UNHCR may now be vulnerable to government scrutiny and deportation.

Clean Yangon has announced that humanitarian support from generous donors both inside the country and abroad was swiftly mobilized through its organization to aid civilians affected by the devastating earthquake in Sagaing.

The group reported that it had worked diligently to provide effective rescue operations and recovery support to the disaster-stricken population. Of the total donations amounting to over MMK 2.6 billion, more than MMK 2.5 billion was directly distributed in an organized and effective manner to those most in need on the ground.
