On May 27, junta troops began a ground offensive from Pakokku, traveling by vehicles through Hmyaik Pin Kone Village and proceeding on foot toward resistance strongholds in Ngaphonekan and Nyaung Jit Pin Villages.

By May 28, a junta column of nearly 150 troops had advanced from the Nyaung Jit Pin–Kan Taw checkpoint road to the town of Kamma, where they torched and destroyed the camp of the Kamma Defense Force (KMDF), according to a KMDF statement.

A KMDF spokesperson explained,

“We initially thought the column would move toward the junta police station in Kamma via Nyaung Jit Pin. But instead, they diverted through forest trails and reached our camp. Our troops had been monitoring another direction, so we were caught off guard. The entire camp was set ablaze. We couldn’t salvage anything. We estimate the total losses to be worth around 40 million kyats. KMDF is now in urgent need of support.”

The group has appealed to the public for donations—emphasizing that any contribution, regardless of size, would be greatly appreciated to help rebuild the camp and continue their resistance efforts.
