๐๐ 1. NUG Foreign Minister Expresses Deep Condolences Over the Passing of U Oo Hla Saw, Calling It a Great Loss to Rakhine Politics

The Minister of Foreign Affairs for the National Unity Government (NUG), Daw Zin Mar Aung, expressed her sorrow over the passing of U Oo Hla Saw, describing his death as a profound and valuable loss for Rakhine politics.
She stated:
“I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Uncle U Oo Hla Saw, a writer and politician from the 74-Generation. It is a painful and significant loss for Rakhine politics. Political figures like him are rare in Myanmar’s political landscape. I had the privilege of serving alongside Uncle in parliament during the 2015–2020 term. Those years were filled with meaningful, memorable moments. Although we did not always agree, I respected and valued his political integrity and experience. He was a person worthy of admiration and regard. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Veteran Rakhine politician and ULA/AA political leader, U Hla Saw—also known by his pen name Maung Khaing Aung, a poet—passed away at the age of 72 on the night of May 5, at 11:45 PM.

๐๐ 2. NUG Health Ministry Increases Treatment Capacity in Sagaing Region from 10,558 to Over 1.24 Million Outpatients in Four Years

The Ministry of Health under the National Unity Government (NUG) announced that it has coordinated with 29 regional health officers and 227 township health officers to implement on-ground healthcare services across 190 townships.
According to the statement, these health services are being delivered through a network of 106 hospitals, 808 clinics, and over 192 mobile clinics, staffed by a workforce of 5,098 healthcare workers providing care across various localities.
Notably, in the Sagaing Region alone, the number of outpatients receiving treatment rose from 10,558 to 1,241,633 over the past four years. This data is extracted from the NUG’s four-year performance report.

It has been reported that a discussion regarding the upcoming election planned by the State Administration Council (SAC) will be held at Sydney University, featuring Australian MP Ms. Janelle Saffin, Prof. Sean Turnell, and Prof. Chris Sidoti.
The event is scheduled for May 8 at Sydney University.
“The SAC insists that an election will be held in the coming December no matter what. Tomorrow at Sydney University, these experts will share their views on this issue. Let’s take this opportunity to learn from their perspectives and seek guidance on what actions we might take,” said Dr. Htun Aung Shwe, the NUG’s representative to Australia.

๐๐ 4. Weekly Super 4 Offers Up to MMK 196 Million in Weekly Prize Potential Through a True Random System

The Nway Oo Lottery Family has announced that in the Weekly Super 4 draw, a total prize pool of over MMK 196 million will be awarded each week through a True Random system, across six different prize categories.

๐๐ 6. Minor Earthquakes Recorded in Yangon and Mandalay

According to a press release by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management under the National Unity Government (NUG), a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale struck on May 6, 2025, at around 10:55 PM Myanmar Standard Time, centered 10 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface near Zayatkwin, Hlegu Township, Yangon Region.
A smaller quake measuring 2.9 had already occurred nearby at 9:40 PM on the same evening.
Additionally, on May 7, 2025, at approximately 1:27 AM, another moderate earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck 25 kilometers northeast of Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The Ministry further warned that aftershocks following the major Sagaing earthquake may continue. The public is urged to remain vigilant and follow appropriate earthquake preparedness and safety measures.
