๐๐ 2. The Promise Campaign Provides Support to Over 50 Affected CDM Medical Staff from Ministry of Health
"The Promise Campaign, launched in May 2024, has now reached its one-year mark. Over the past year, the campaign has provided monthly support to Ministry of Health employees who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and have suffered various forms of hardship," stated the CDM Medical Network.
In March 2025, the campaign supported 27 affected individuals with a total of MMK 1.625 million, and in April 2025, it supported 28 individuals with MMK 1.6 million.
These efforts were made possible through the collective contributions of donors and groups that have been consistently purchasing and donating insurance units on a monthly basis. The campaign also acknowledged the fundraising efforts of groups such as “Never Back Down – D2D” and “with Love Brunei,” who helped sell and distribute insurance units. On behalf of all affected CDM medical workers, the CDM Medical Network expressed deep gratitude to all involved.
The Promise Campaign aims to sell 900 insurance units each month and continues to seek the support of committed donors and contributors.

๐๐ 3. India for Myanmar Urges Burmese Refugees in India to Remain Vigilant Amid India-Pakistan Military Tensions
In light of rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, India for Myanmar has issued a public advisory urging Myanmar nationals residing in India to remain vigilant and cautious in their respective areas, warning that regional instability could escalate and create further challenges.
The advisory also urges Myanmar refugees to avoid any actions that may impose burdens on Indian government officials, civil society organizations, or local Indian communities. Refugees are strongly encouraged to respect Indian laws, regional regulations, and official directives, and to cooperate fully with local authorities.
Given the current focus of Indian leadership on national security and domestic affairs, India for Myanmar announced that the delivery of a planned petition—signed by around 40 Myanmar nationals and addressed to the Indian Prime Minister—will be postponed out of sensitivity to the country’s present difficulties and will be rescheduled for a more appropriate time.

๐๐ 4. Attempted Coordinated Murder of Two Political Prisoners at Taung Kalay Prison
At Taung Kalay Prison in Hpa-An Township, Kayin State, an attempted group assault intended to kill two political prisoners was carried out by twelve criminal inmates, according to a statement released by the Patriotic Political Prisoners Network (PPNM).
The incident occurred on April 30, targeting two political prisoners: Ko Kyaw Kyaw Myint, serving a 15-year sentence, and Ko Min Thusu, serving a 4-year sentence. The conflict reportedly began after Htet Naing, a close subordinate of the prison warden, was instructed to confront the two political prisoners inside their sleeping quarters over a delay in the delivery of a fish curry dish from the prison kitchen.
While the explanation was being given, Ko Kyaw Kyaw Myint was struck from behind by Spain, a criminal inmate, using a concrete block wrapped in a traditional paso (sarong), apparently pre-prepared for the attack. Another inmate, Min Min (aka Par Pyat), also struck him on the head with a concrete block. Additional assailants identified as Min Htet (aka Bo Bo), Paung Chain, and Nwar Gyi joined in the coordinated beating.
Similarly, Ko Min Thusu was attacked by criminal inmates identified as Win Than Tun, Kyaw Thet Lwin, Paung Chain, Min Htet (aka Bo Bo), Mo Kaung Kin, Par Pyat, Nwar Gyi, Spain, Thwar Kyoke, Kaung Shwe Htet, Joker, and the unnamed son of the owner of Mobile Mother phone shop in Mandalay. The attackers reportedly ganged up and brutally assaulted him.
As a result of this premeditated group assault, Ko Kyaw Kyaw Myint sustained a cracked skull, swelling and ruptures across his body, facial bruising, and bruises on his elbow and forearm. His head wounds required three stitches, according to reports.
Ko Min Thusu also suffered a cracked skull, a gash above his left eyebrow, widespread facial bruising and swelling, and contusions across his body. His head injuries required seven stitches.
Although the beating occurred directly in front of the head warden's office, prison officials Captain Aung Ye Naing, Sergeant Win Maung, and Sergeant Thein Than Oo (aka Pyaung Gyi) reportedly made no attempt to intervene.
Furthermore, although the incident took place just across a barbed wire fence separating the Main Jail, no preventive or responsive action was taken, as highlighted in PPNM’s statement.
The assailants involved in the attempted murder are said to be members of the “Barcode Gang”, consisting of around 100 inmates tattooed with barcode-style patterns. This gang was allegedly formed under the leadership of a former prison authority Soe Moe Aung, with support from MJ military and police forces, for the purpose of suppressing political prisoners inside the prison system.
Although twelve attackers were involved in the beating, prison authorities have acknowledged only five participants—Min Htet (aka Bo Bo), Paung Chain, Nwar Gyi, Min Min (aka Par Pyat), and Spain—who have been placed in solitary confinement for interrogation. The other perpetrators remain unaccounted for, according to PPNM.
