๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. Myanmar’s UN Ambassador: All Future-Oriented Dialogue Must Align with the People's Will and Interests

June 12
Speaking at an informal plenary meeting held on June 10 at the UN Headquarters in New York, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations emphasized that any dialogue relating to Myanmar’s future must reflect and align with the will and interests of the people.

This meeting, convened by the United Nations, was attended by representatives from UN Member States and included a briefing by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Myanmar, Ms. Julie Bishop.

Ms. Bishop noted that while avenues for dialogue have been opened, broader consensus remains necessary. She stressed the importance of a ceasefire, a reduction in violence, and prioritizing the needs of the people in resolving the Myanmar crisis. She also underscored the goal of establishing a long-term and inclusive peace.

Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun further stated that, at this juncture when foundational processes are being laid for a future Federal Democratic Union, internal dialogue has already begun between democratic forces and relevant stakeholders to chart a path toward national unity and transformative reconciliation.

He explained that the people of Myanmar aspire for the military to withdraw entirely from politics and to live under a civilian government, with full enjoyment of fundamental human rights. Therefore, he urged the United Nations not only to provide protection for civilians and safeguard peace and stability, but also to actively engage its principal organs—including the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Human Rights Council—as well as specialized agencies such as the ILO and the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM)—to exercise their mandates decisively and effectively in resolving the Myanmar crisis.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Political Prisoner Dies in Tharyarwaddy Prison Due to Lack of Adequate Medical Care

June 12
Another political prisoner has died in Tharyarwaddy Prison as a result of inadequate medical care, according to a statement released today by the Political Prisoners Network Myanmar (PPNM).

U Kyaw Soe (aka U Zaw Hnit), who had been arrested in October 2021 under Penal Code Section 505(a) in Hlegu Township and sentenced to 10 years in prison, died on May 23 due to complications from heart disease and hypertension. PPNM reported that his death was directly linked to the prison's failure to provide sufficient medical attention.

According to PPNM’s monitoring and documentation, the number of political prisoners who have died under similar circumstances has reached 10 as of June 1, 2025.

PPNM emphasized that the broader issue is the chronic denial of adequate healthcare in Myanmar’s prisons, which has left both political prisoners and the general incarcerated population vulnerable to worsening health conditions. Many are being denied access to proper medical treatment, resulting in unnecessary deaths that could have been prevented.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. CRPH–OFP Urges Public Participation in "To Magway" Campaign in Support of the General Offensive

June 12
The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw – Office for Fundraising and Planning (CRPH–OFP) has called on the public to participate in its “To Magway” campaign, aimed at supporting Myanmar’s ongoing general military offensive.

A representative from the OFP Fundraising Program explained to Radio NUG that,

“We, the OFP fundraisers, often collaborate with the Ministry of Defense (MOD) in pre-planning expenses for upcoming military operations. As fundraisers, we initiate campaigns to provide field-level battalions with as much support as possible depending on the situation. The current 'To Magway' campaign is being conducted with this objective.”

The campaign seeks to supply battalions under the MOD operating in Magway Region with bulletproof vests and helmets. The fundraising goal is set at USD 200,000. While the amount may seem large, the representative expressed confidence that public support can help meet the target and urged widespread participation.

Magway Region, located in central Myanmar, shares borders with Chin State, Sagaing Region, Bago Region, and Rakhine State. Strategically significant, the region also hosts military council-run arms factories and currency printing facilities, making it a critical area in the ongoing conflict.
