๐๐ 1. NUG Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung Meets with Myanmar Families in the San Francisco Bay Area for the Third Time
June 1
On May 31, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Myanmar families in the San Francisco Bay Area held their third meeting with Daw Zin Mar Aung, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government (NUG), at the Myanmar Community Center in Union City, California, United States.
Nearly 100 attendees participated in the gathering, during which Daw Zin Mar Aung provided a candid and comprehensive briefing on the current Spring Revolution, the reform initiatives of the NUG government, ongoing military offensives, and the overall situation in Myanmar. She also took time to answer questions and address criticisms raised by members of the audience.
To ensure a transparent and open exchange, no video recordings, live broadcasts on social media, or audio recordings were made during the session.
A member of the audience commented that it was highly valuable for the overseas Myanmar community—who are actively engaged in the struggle for Myanmar—to have the opportunity to directly meet and discuss with revolution leaders and NUG officials, as well as to participate in open Q&A sessions. They remarked that such face-to-face interactions are far more impactful than engaging solely with content on social media, as it allows the public to hear directly from those leading the movement.

๐๐ 4. Irrawaddy River Water Level Slightly Recedes, but Flood Risk Remains—Social Relief Groups Urge Vigilance
June 1
Although the water level of the Irrawaddy River in Myitkyina, Kachin State, has begun to recede slightly, it remains close to the danger mark. Social relief organizations are urging residents in downstream areas to implement precautionary flood protection measures.
On May 31, the Irrawaddy River water level in Myitkyina suddenly surged around noon and continued rising into the evening. Although the rate of increase slowed down overnight and into the morning of June 1, the water level was only about three feet below the danger level of 1,200 centimeters (approximately 39 feet), prompting continued concern about potential flooding.
If the water level overflows in Myitkyina, the river could rise in midstream areas as far as Shweku and Bhamo, according to reports.
The rise in the Irrawaddy River is attributed to heavy rains that began on May 25 in upper catchment areas such as Maykha–Malikha confluence, Putao District, and border towns like Panwar and Sawlaw, including areas controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), adjacent to China.
In lower-lying areas of Myitkyina, including Kyat Paung Chan, Sitapu, Le Kone, and Yam Pu, some residents were forced to evacuate overnight due to sudden water intrusion, according to local reports.
Although water levels in the upper Maykha River have now receded and the Chi Phwe suspension bridge has reemerged, a local resident cautioned on social media that the surge in water levels over the past few days remains a concern and should not be taken lightly.

๐๐ 5. Myanmar War Refugees in Mizoram Suffering from Floods
June 1
Myanmar refugees sheltering in villages in Lunglei District, Mizoram State, India, are facing flooding due to continuous heavy rain, according to a statement issued by the Paletwa IDPs and Humanitarian Supporting organization.
Heavy rainfall has inundated nearly 140 refugee homes in two villages hosting displaced persons from Paletwa Township, leaving the war refugees in urgent need of emergency assistance.
According to the statement released on May 31, flooding occurred in Tuiding Village and Kha Ki Village in Lunglei District, with 136 homes submerged.
Flooding began around 1:00 PM on May 31, and affected war refugees have been relocated to nearby homes and community halls within Tuiding Village for emergency shelter, according to the report.
As a result of this flooding, many homes have been destroyed, and the refugees are in desperate need of emergency support, including shelter materials, food, and financial aid to rebuild their lives. The Paletwa IDPs and Humanitarian Supporting organization has issued an appeal for collective assistance to support those affected.
The displaced persons currently residing in Lunglei District reportedly fled their homes due to fighting that broke out both prior to and after the 2021 military coup.
This report was submitted by Radio NUG correspondents Ko Khant and Min Nway Oo.
