🚩🚩 2. On World Refugee Day, KNU Urges International Community to Continue Supporting Refugees and Take Action Against Those Forcing Displacement
June 20
On the occasion of World Refugee Day (June 20), the Karen National Union (KNU) issued a call to the international community to continue providing support to refugees and to take effective action against those responsible for forcibly displacing civilians from their homes.
The KNU acknowledged the immense suffering and hardship endured by people who have been forcibly uprooted from their homes and communities, emphasizing that such experiences are deeply understood and not forgotten.
The statement also recognized the resilience, courage, and endurance of those affected by conflict and forced displacement.
The KNU emphasized that refugees are not criminals or lesser beings, but individuals who deserve protection, respect, and the opportunity to rebuild dignified and secure lives.
The organization urged the global community to ensure that all refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) can one day return to their homes in safety and peace. In this effort, the KNU called for not only continued international humanitarian support but also accountability for those responsible for creating conditions that force displacement.
The KNU further called for a future in which no one is forced to flee their home—a future built together on the foundations of safety, freedom, and peace.
The statement affirmed the KNU’s solidarity with all refugees around the world, and especially with the Karen and other ethnic minorities from Myanmar who have endured decades of armed conflict, political persecution, and human rights abuses.
A World Refugee Day event was held on June 20 at Mae La refugee camp on the Thai-Myanmar border. The ceremony was attended by refugee students, UN agency representatives, Thai authorities, and members of the Karen Refugee Committee (KRC).

🚩🚩 4. Eighteen Chin Armed Groups Issue Joint Declaration to Unite Against Common Enemy – The Military Junta
June 20
Eighteen Chin revolutionary armed groups have issued a joint statement pledging to unite and collectively resist the military junta, which they have identified as the common enemy.
The declaration, released on June 19, reaffirms their commitment to the Spring Revolution’s ultimate goals: the complete eradication of the violent military regime, the establishment of a genuine Federal Democratic Union, the protection of Chin territories and people, and the realization of full self-determination for Chinland.
The statement honors all Chin revolutionary groups that have emerged in pursuit of these shared national objectives and values.
It also warns that ongoing infighting, disputes, and armed confrontations between Chin resistance forces, as well as weakening unity between armed groups and civilians, pose serious threats to the success of the people's revolution and risk derailing the Chin liberation movement.
The 18 Chin armed groups call for mutual respect among armed forces during the Spring Revolution, and express hope for solidarity among all Chin people.
They urge all stakeholders to refrain from actions or rhetoric that could foster misunderstanding or internal discord, and emphasize that fighting must be directed solely at the common enemy—the military junta.
The statement calls for issues relating to territory and ethnicity in Chin State to be addressed politically after the revolution, not during it.
In conclusion, the 18 Chin revolutionary armed groups state they are prepared to stand united in the fight against the military dictatorship, to defend Chin people and territory, and to strive alongside the Chin public for national unity and the construction of a future Chinland.

🚩🚩 6. Black Cobra Column Vows Maximum Effort to Liberate Civilians Affected by Prolonged Military Offensive Along Tanintharyi-Mawtaung Road
June 20
The Black Cobra Column has announced that it will join forces with the KNU/KNLA and other resistance groups to make every possible effort to free civilians in Mawtaung area, Tanintharyi Township, who have been enduring prolonged military offensives by junta troops attempting to reinforce and reclaim control over the region.
The announcement, issued on June 18—the six-month mark of the junta’s renewed campaign to dominate the Mawtaung-Than Khun road—comes as the regime moves troops and attempts to arm local Pyu Saw Htee militias in Mawtaung Township.
The Black Cobra Column stated that, due to sustained resistance counterattacks, junta forces have been unable to advance beyond the area near Theinkhun village in Tanintharyi Township.
According to local reports, junta forces have been shelling and conducting airstrikes not only along their offensive routes but also on surrounding villages. Some civilians have reportedly been killed by artillery fire. On June 17 and 18, junta aircraft bombed areas where there were no ongoing battles or presence of resistance forces.
In response, the Black Cobra Column has urged local civilians to prepare bomb shelters and other protective measures for their safety.
The report also notes that the military has entrenched itself in civilian infrastructure, converting schools, monasteries, and fortified homes into temporary bases, making it unsafe for civilians to return and turning entire areas into de facto military zones.
Villagers along the military’s campaign routes are reportedly suffering from severe social, economic, health, and educational disruptions due to the conflict.
In its statement, the Black Cobra Column reaffirmed its commitment to doing everything possible to liberate the people of the region from the suffering caused by the ongoing war.
