๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. One Monk Killed and Four Civilians Injured in Junta Airstrike on Monastery in Kyatyoepin Village, Thabeikkyin Township

June 6

A junta airstrike targeted the Buddhist monastery in Kyatyoepin Village, located in Thabeikkyin Township of Mandalay Region, resulting in the death of a monk and injuries to four civilians, according to a statement by the People’s Defense Team of Pyin Oo Lwin District.

The air attack took place at around 5:17 p.m. on June 5, when a fighter jet, reportedly coming from Tada-U air base, conducted an aerial assault on the monastery in Kyatyoepin Village.

As a result of the bombing, one monk was killed and four civilians — three men and one woman — were injured.

Earlier this month, on the morning of June 1, a junta jet fighter also dropped a 500-pound bomb on Kanta Primary School, located within Thabeikkyin Township, destroying two school buildings.

Due to the junta’s continued deliberate attacks targeting civilians, the People’s Defense Team of Pyin Oo Lwin District, together with allied revolutionary forces, has urged the public to relocate away from junta military installations and dig protective trenches or shelters to defend against potential airstrikes.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Four Civilians Injured and Two Homes Destroyed in Junta Artillery Shelling on Nawnghkio Township

June 6

The TNLA/PSLF Information Department reports that ongoing artillery shelling by the military junta — despite an agreed extension of the ceasefire — has resulted in four civilian injuries, the destruction of two homes, and damage to a monastery in Nawnghkio Township, northern Shan State.

On June 4, junta troops fired heavy artillery shells into the market area of Nawnghkio town, wounding two men and two women, and damaging two residential homes as well as the Kambawza Monastery, which was struck directly by artillery fire.

Additionally, at around 9 a.m. on June 3, junta forces launched six bombs via drone from Yayphyu Village toward Gankaw Village. Later that same day, at approximately 4 p.m., a drone attack was again carried out on Kan Gyi Village, also within Nawnghkio Township.

Although the Brotherhood Alliance had announced on June 2 a one-month ceasefire extension aimed at supporting humanitarian efforts for earthquake-affected civilians, the junta has instead used the opportunity to escalate military aggression, continuing bombing campaigns on Nawnghkio Township.

In light of the continued attacks, the TNLA has called on the public to maintain constant awareness of the military situation, and to take necessary precautions against airstrikes, including following safety protocols and constructing protective shelters.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Matupi–Mintat Road Closed Until June 15 Due to Repair Work, Announces CDF–Matupi

June 6

The Chin Defense Force – Matupi (CDF–Matupi), under the Matupi Revolutionary Organization (MRO), has issued a public notice that travel along the Matupi–Mintat Road will be entirely suspended from June 6 to June 15 due to ongoing repair works.

The Matupi–Mintat Road, a vital transport route for residents of Matupi Township in southern Chin State, was severely damaged at Mile Post 91, prompting MRO/CDF–Matupi to initiate repair operations starting May 22. Although the repair period was originally set to conclude by June 5, heavy rainfall has delayed the work, and repairs are still underway.

As a result, the public has been advised not to use this route under any circumstances until June 15.

It is noted that CDF–Matupi, in coordination with Chin Brotherhood Alliance forces, took full control of Matupi town on June 29, 2024, and has since continued to administer local governance in the area.
