๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. NUG Foreign Minister calls on ASEAN leaders to reject the junta’s sham election, along with two other key demands

July 12

The National Unity Government (NUG), through its Minister of Foreign Affairs Daw Zin Mar Aung, sent a letter dated July 6 to the leaders of ASEAN member states, urging them to reject the military junta’s plans to hold a sham election and to respond to three key requests, according to Public Voice Television.

The three points raised in the letter were:

  1. To prioritize humanitarian assistance for Myanmar;
  2. To support the appointment of an ASEAN Special Envoy; and
  3. To reject any actions by the military regime, including its staged election, which violates the principles of the Five-Point Consensus and has become a source of deadlock.

The letter respectfully urged ASEAN leaders to collectively oppose any measures taken by the junta to legitimize itself through illegitimate means.

“Our country is facing an alarming humanitarian emergency. Millions of our people are suffering from severe food insecurity, forced displacement, and ongoing violence. The military’s continuous assaults on civilians, particularly women, children, and the elderly, are exacerbating their vulnerability and suffering. Therefore, inclusiveness and sustainability should not be treated merely as aspirational principles—they are essential elements for any meaningful regional response,” wrote Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung in the letter.

The Foreign Minister further emphasized the need for ASEAN as a whole to firmly reject any action by the military regime that undermines the spirit and intent of the Five-Point Consensus, particularly the effort to hold a sham election under current repressive conditions.

The letter was sent during the ASEAN meetings held in Kuala Lumpur from July 8 to 11 under the theme "Inclusion and Sustainability."

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. NUG Health Ministry expresses gratitude to donors of Safe Hospital campaign

July 12

The Ministry of Health under the National Unity Government (NUG) issued a statement expressing heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to donors who contributed to the “Safe Hospital, Safe Healthcare” campaign aimed at building secure hospitals in Myanmar.

The campaign, which ran from May 24 to June 30, received widespread support from both local and international donors. Due to this strong participation, the funds raised exceeded the original target.

Although the campaign had initially set a target of USD 400,000, it successfully raised over USD 690,000 by its conclusion—achieving 172% of the intended goal.

The Ministry of Health stated that it deeply appreciates each and every individual donor who contributed beyond the expectations of the campaign.

Recognizing the urgent need for safe medical facilities to provide secure healthcare in Myanmar—and to protect both healthcare workers and patients from harm—the Ministry honored and recorded all donors with sincere respect and gratitude for their committed support.

Furthermore, the Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to working hand in hand with all ethnic communities across Myanmar until the military dictatorship is fully dismantled and a federal democratic union is established.
