The Ministry of Women, Youth and Children’s Affairs under the National Unity Government (NUG) held a coordination meeting with regional representatives responsible for women, youth, and child affairs from Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Regions on July 11, 2025, according to an official press release.

At the meeting, Union Minister Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe explained the ministry's key programs and initiatives. Department heads from the Women and Gender Affairs Department, the Youth Affairs Department, and the Child Affairs Department also provided briefings on current projects and future implementation plans.

The session included discussions on challenges and issues encountered on the ground by local representatives. Union Minister Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe, along with departmental officials, responded to inquiries and shared solutions to reported difficulties. The meeting also resulted in the formulation of specific action plans for future implementation.

At approximately 2:24 PM Myanmar Standard Time on July 17, 2025, a moderate earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck near Kale Wah, located about 43 kilometers south of Mawlaik Township in Sagaing Region, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management under the National Unity Government reported the incident and issued public guidance urging people to stay alert, follow safety protocols, and take appropriate precautions to minimize casualties and damages from potential earthquake hazards.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. 78th Karen National Defense Organization Day Celebrated in Mue Township by KNLA Battalion 8 and Kler Lwee Htoo Junior College

The 78th Anniversary of Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) Day was commemorated by KNLA Battalion 8, Kler Lwee Htoo Junior College, and the Wisdom Youth Capacity Building School in Mue Township, Kler Lwee Htoo District, according to a press release from the Karen National Union (KNU).

The ceremony held on July 16, 2025, at KNLA Battalion 8 was attended by over 350 participants, including local residents from Mue Township, township officials, commanders from Battalion 8, and students from Tamala Pounya High School.

During the ceremony, congratulatory and motivational speeches were delivered by leaders including:

  • Padoh Saw Lah Say, Head of the Department of Education and Culture, KNU Central Committee
  • Padoh Saw Ma Nay Say, member of the Township Permanent Committee and Executive Committee
  • Battalion 8 Commander, Major Saw Shee Htoo
  • Deputy Commander for Communications, Lieutenant Saw Khalay Mue

Additionally, sports competitions were held to mark the occasion.

A similar commemorative ceremony was also held on July 16 at Kler Lwee Htoo Junior College (KJC) and the Wisdom Youth Capacity Building School.

At KJC, solidarity messages from the KNU Chairperson, the Karen Women’s Organization, the Karen Youth Organization, and the Karen National Liberation Army Headquarters were read aloud. Speeches were also delivered by:

  • Padoh Saw Nay Htoo Byine, Deputy District Secretary, Kler Lwee Htoo District
  • Padoh Saw Taw Do, District Permanent Committee Member and Office Administrator
  • Padoh Saw Khame, District Committee Member and Judge

  • Vice Principal, Saw Thar Htoo
  • Dhamma Teacher, Saw Thei Phle Htoo

At Wisdom School, congratulatory speeches were given by teachers Daw Thaw Say and Yan Kyaw.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. KNLA Presents Certificates of Honor to 10 ABSDF Soldiers Who Participated in the Maneplaw Operation

On the occasion of the 78th Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) Day, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Central Command awarded Certificates of Honor to ten members of the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) who had taken part in military operations, according to a statement released by ABSDF.

The honors were given in recognition of their participation in the military campaign to reclaim the historical headquarters of Maneplaw, located in the territory of KNU’s Brigade 7.

A total of 57 soldiers were honored at the KNDO Day ceremony on July 16, including 41 from KNDO, 10 from ABSDF, and 6 drone unit members from the Federal Wings. These individuals were formally acknowledged with Certificates of Honor for their contributions to the Maneplaw battlefront.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. List of Students Eligible to Attend the 2nd Graduation Ceremony of Myanmar Spring University Announced

Myanmar Spring University, established during the revolutionary period to ensure uninterrupted higher education for students amid the crisis, has announced that the second official graduation ceremony will be held on August 8, 2025, to confer degree certificates to students who have successfully completed their academic programs.

The university has published a list of students who have passed their final year exams across respective academic departments and are thus eligible to receive their degrees.

Applications for the graduation certificates will open on July 17 and close on July 31. Students are required to complete the registration form by Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 12:00 midnight, and include all necessary information along with the certificate issuance fee of 10,000 kyats.

The announcement specifies that the certificate fee must be paid exclusively through Spring Development Bank (SDB).

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 6. Campaign Launched to Collect 8,888 Signatures Appealing to the South Korean Government for Myanmar Democracy Support

Democracy advocacy organizations have launched a signature campaign appealing to the government of the Republic of Korea to support the democratic movement and social rebuilding efforts in Myanmar. Organizers aim to collect 8,888 signatures for this cause.

The campaign is led by the Committee Against Military Dictatorship (Korea), along with MFDMC, KOCO, and other revolutionary organizations. It is being held to commemorate the 37th anniversary of Myanmar’s 1988 pro-democracy uprising (8888 Uprising).

Signatures can be submitted without the need to register personal details. However, optional fields such as email, phone number, and address may be filled in at the signer’s discretion.

Once collected, the signatures will be submitted to the South Korean government during a press conference in front of the Presidential Office in Seoul on August 8.

The formal appeal will include seven key demands, calling for tangible and practical support for Myanmar’s democracy movement and urging non-recognition of the sham elections conducted by the military junta.
