According to a statement by the Democratic Special National Defense Army (DSNDA), a landmine ambush targeting a junta military column in southern Shan State resulted in the deaths of 12 junta soldiers.

The incident occurred between Taung U and Yanae villages in Ywar Ngan Township, a self-administered zone under the Danu ethnic authority.

On July 27 at around 11:00 AM, a column of approximately 240 junta troops was advancing from Taung U toward Yanae when resistance forces launched an ambush using high-powered landmines and small arms.

DSNDA reported that 10 junta soldiers were killed immediately in the minefield, with many others wounded. During the firefight, 2 more junta troops were confirmed killed on the spot.

Following the battle, the bodies and injured were transported back by vehicle to Yanae village. Over 200 junta troops are now stationed in Yanae, and they have begun indiscriminately shelling nearby villages with heavy and small arms fire.

Artillery, airstrikes, and drone attacks by the junta continue in Hpakant Township. In just the past three months, more than 5,000 civilians from 10 villages have been displaced, and over 50 civilians have died due to these ongoing military assaults.
