๐๐ 4. Village administrators in Ngapudaw Township threatened with prosecution under the Conscription Law for failing to provide new recruits
July 20
According to local sources, the Chairman of Ngapudaw Township, Pathein District, Ayeyarwady Region, has issued threats to prosecute village administrators who fail to provide new conscripts, using provisions under the Conscription Law.
On July 17, a notice was sent to the administrators and clerks of three village tracts—Oatshitkwin, Kontan Poktak, and Kyauk Tankhar—accusing them of failing to submit Forms (1) and (2), which are used to register all eligible individuals in the village for military service, as well as failing to send one trainee for Military Batch 16.
According to the Conscription Law, township administration authorities had instructed each village to submit both Form (1) and (2), and to provide one trainee per conscription batch. Failure to comply would result in prosecution under Section 25 of the Conscription Law, warned the Township People’s Military Service Recruitment Committee under the junta.
Additionally, the Chairman’s letter threatened that if the required Forms (1) and (2) and at least one new conscript are not submitted by July 22, action will be taken under Section 25 of the Conscription Law against village administrators, and village clerks will also face administrative action under the Civil Service Law and related regulations.
