According to Battalion 3 of the Vissanoe People’s Defense Force (PDF), a junta officer was captured during a vehicle search operation along a section of the Taung Twin Gyi–Myothit Road in Magway Region.
The detainee was identified as Major Naing Thu Ya, who had been assigned to transfer from Border Guard Unit No. 1018 in Myawaddy to Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 29 based in Myitkyina. He reportedly arrived in Mandalay and was en route to Myitkyina by flight.

This led to necessary defensive gunfire and the seizure of his weapon.
Vissanoe PDF affirmed that the captured officer was not harmed and that they are adhering strictly to the laws governing prisoners of war issued by the NUG. They pledged to handle him according to those regulations.
