🚩🚩 1. Resistance Forces Attack Military Convoy Transporting Ammunition Between Ngan Zun and Myotha—Around 30 Junta Troops Killed, 4 Captured

At 7:19 AM on July 3, resistance forces attacked a junta military convoy transporting arms and ammunition between Ngan Zun and Myotha, on the Myotha–Simeekhon road in Myingyan District, Mandalay Region.

According to a statement from the ZERO Urban Guerrilla Force, the convoy disintegrated, and troops fled the battlefield.

Investigations confirm that approximately 30 junta troops, including the column commander, were killed in the attack, and 4 soldiers, including a sergeant, were captured.

The operation was a coordinated assault involving Zero Guerrilla Unit (Myingyan District Battalion 7), Mandalay District Battalion 5, and local People’s Defense Forces (PDFs).

🚩🚩 2. Two Junta Police from Hmawbi-Based Battalion Arrested While Sneaking Out to Buy Beer from Taungtha Factory

On the evening of July 3, two junta police officers from Yangon’s Hmawbi Police Battalion 5, who were on security duty at Taungtha’s No. 1 Swutkyel Factory, were arrested while sneaking out of their post to buy beer.

According to the Pa Ka Pha (People’s Defense Organization) in Taungtha Township under NUG, the officers were apprehended by PDF police forces while trying to exit the compound.

The two detainees are identified as Police Constable Aung Siha (ID: L-306917) and Deputy Sergeant Han We Aung (ID: L-264588). They were caught with one motorcycle, two mobile phones, and one hand grenade.

🚩🚩 3. Five Civilians Killed and 25 Injured by Junta’s Violent Attacks on Lailo and Sawhti Townships; Homes and Livestock Also Destroyed

The military junta has launched violent and deliberate attacks targeting civilian populations in Lailo and Sawhti Townships, firing artillery and launching airstrikes on villages where civilians reside.

As a result, five innocent civilians were killed and 25 others injured. Additionally, two houses were destroyed, and three cows were killed, according to a statement from KNUs Central Command.

On July 1 at 9:00 PM, Infantry Battalion 264, based in Pinezalote, fired two 81mm heavy mortars into Ywarthin Kone Village in Lailo Township, damaging a house and killing three cows.

Earlier, on June 29, a junta jet fighter from Taungoo Air Base carried out an airstrike on Wekyidwe Village, killing four civilians:

  • Daw Thitar Oo (35)
  • Daw Aye Aye Oo (67)
  • Daw Khin Shwe (65)
  • Maung Zwe Pyay (4 years old)
    and injuring 25 others.

Furthermore, on June 28 at 7:20 PM, Infantry Battalion 264 fired a Howitzer round into Chone Inn Village in Sawhti Township, killing 75-year-old Nyar Thaung Tin and damaging a house.

🚩🚩 4. Fierce Clashes in Waw Lay Town Leave Three Civilians Injured

Fierce clashes erupted on the morning of July 4 in Waw Lay Town, located near the Thailand–Myanmar border in Karen State, between junta troops and combined resistance forces led by the Karen National Union (KNU). According to local sources, several artillery shells landed and exploded within the town, injuring three civilians.

At around 10:30 AM, KNU-led forces launched a drone strike targeting the junta's Waw Lay strategic base and Thay Hlae Kyar checkpoint, prompting junta forces to retaliate with heavy artillery fire. As a result, artillery shells struck Ward (4) in Waw Lay Town, seriously injuring three civilians.

The injured were quickly transported across the border to Thailand for urgent medical treatment. Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Army has tightened security along the border and is closely monitoring the situation.

It was also reported that on July 3, artillery shells had struck Ward (4) of Waw Lay Town, injuring two other civilians.

KNU-led combined forces have been laying siege and launching offensives on junta bases near Waw Lay since early July. In response, the junta's air force carried out a bombing raid on Waw Lay Town in the afternoon of July 4.

Due to the escalating clashes, hundreds of local residents from Waw Lay have fled into Thailand, where Thai authorities are said to be providing assistance and shelter to the displaced population, according to Thai news outlets.

🚩🚩 5. Battalion 1003 / Danu Region-Based People's Defense Force Holds Graduation Ceremony Amidst Combat Threats

The People's Defense Force Battalion 1003, based in the Danu region, successfully conducted a basic military training graduation ceremony despite ongoing threats from junta troop movements in the area.

The report stated that both the trainees who completed the course and the instructors who provided the training were honored for their perseverance and dedication.

It was also noted that the graduation was held under the looming threat of potential attacks, as junta columns were operating nearby and clashes could erupt at any time.

🚩🚩 6. Police Officer from Hlinebwe Township Defects to PDF Battalion 3 in Myeik District

A police officer from the Hlinebwe Township Central Police Station in Karen State has defected and sought refuge with People’s Defense Force (PDF) Battalion 3 in Myeik District, according to reports.

The officer, identified as Yan Naing Lin, officially defected to Battalion 3 of the PDF on July 4.

He had previously undergone training as part of the 292nd Intake at Police Basic Training School No. 2 in Wethee Kan, Pyay Township, and had 11 years of service in the police force.

According to sources, he chose to defect after becoming unable to tolerate the junta’s violent acts against civilians while he was stationed at Hlinebwe Police Station. He fled toward Tanintharyi Township, where his family resides, and surrendered to PDF Battalion 3.

The defector is currently being held and protected in accordance with the policies of the National Unity Government (NUG) and its Ministry of Defense, and is being cared for appropriately, the statement added.
