Myanmar Military News Updates – Jul 08, 2025 Morning



🚩🚩 1. Six civilians, including two children, killed and three others injured—one of them pregnant—after SAC drone strike on school in Lay Daw Township

The Karen National Union (KNU) reported that the SAC conducted a drone strike targeting a village school in Pauk Village, Lay Daw Township, Hpapun (Mutraw) District, resulting in the deaths of six civilians, including two children.

On July 5 at around 5:50 PM, the military council’s stationed unit in Natthan Gwin launched a drone attack using a 120mm bomb, which hit the school where displaced villagers were sheltering.

The victims were identified as:

  • Tee Maung Than Sein (65)
  • Nyar Kyi Myint (64)
  • Saw Kyaw Naing Win (35)
  • Ma Nan Oo (30)
  • Saw Kyaw Naing Htoo (1)
  • Saw Kaung Thant Zaw (6)

Three others were injured:

  • Naw Thu Yae Zay (30, pregnant)
  • Nyar Win Soe (38)
  • Ma Hla Ya Min Khine (25)

Separately, on July 4 around 1:00 PM, a young man named Saw Aye Min Thway (20) from Ta Line Khin Village was arbitrarily arrested by SAC troops at the Kyauk Ta Khun checkpoint in Kyaukkyi. He has not been released as of this report.

Additionally, on July 2 at about 10:00 AM, SAC’s LIB-351 fired two artillery shells from Sin Ma Taung village, which landed in Nyaung Pin Kone village, Mone Township, wounding a displaced villager, Maung Myet Pyu (31), originally from Shan Chaung village.

🚩🚩 2. ABSDF Central Headquarters commemorates the 63rd Anniversary of the July 7 Uprising

On July 7, 2025, the All Burma Students' Democratic Front (ABSDF) held a ceremony at its Central Headquarters in Daw Tamaung Camp to mark the 63rd anniversary of the July 7 Student Uprising.

The ceremony featured:

  • Salute to the ABSDF flag and fallen comrades
  • Recitation of poems dedicated to the July 7 Uprising
  • Singing of commemorative songs

The event was attended by ABSDF members and allied organizations.

🚩🚩 3. URF commemorates 4th founding anniversary with renewed commitment to revolution alongside the people

The Urban Revolutionary Front (URF) celebrated its 4th founding anniversary on July 7, 2025, at a rear base in Karenni State under the motto: "March with the People, Armed with Wisdom."

URF Commander Ko Htet remarked:

“Our armed resistance has been made possible by the people from various regions who joined the fight. Those engaged in armed struggle must combine wisdom with action and work alongside the people. Over the past four years, we have survived through the war. We exist because of the people, and URF belongs to the revolutionary people. We stand together with the people.”

The ceremony included:

  • Flag-raising and honors for the URF flag
  • Tributes to fallen URF heroes and heroines of the Spring Revolution
  • Commemorative speech by URF Commander Ko Htet
  • Floral tributes laid by mothers of seven fallen URF fighters
  • Awarding of "Heroic Mother" medals by Ko Htet to the mothers
  • A message read by Battalion 3 of the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF)
  • Attendance by allies from Phekhon and Mobye regions, parents, healthcare officials from Lu Ka hospital, and over 100 civilian representatives

The event also featured encouragement speeches and traditional wrist-tying blessings offered to URF members by elders.

🚩🚩 4. Four Pyusawhti and SAC personnel killed, one Pyusawhti captured in Kayin Pyin (Kampulae East) attack

On July 5, joint revolutionary forces under the District People's Defense Force (PaKaPha) of Kalay Township launched an assault on a Pyusawhti-SAC base disguised as a school in Hnaw Nyaung Pin village, Kayin Pyin (Kampulae East).

The operation was led by Kalay District PaKaPha Deputy (Military Affairs) in coordination with the Deputy (Organization/Training), Media Officer, and the Office Head of Kalay District PaKaPha.

The clash resulted in the deaths of:

  • One SAC warrant officer
  • One SAC soldier
  • Two Pyusawhti members

One Pyusawhti fighter was also captured alive. There were no casualties among revolutionary fighters, except for one minor injury.

Captured weapons and ammunition included:

  • 1x BA-100
  • 2x G-3 rifles
  • 4x Carbine rifles
  • 12x 60mm shells
  • 1,175 Carbine rounds
  • 509 7.62mm rounds
  • 58 5.56mm rounds
  • 2 grenades

Participating units included:

  • Kalay District PaKaPha Office Combat Team
  • Wing of Kalay Drone Team
  • PaKaPha units from Htauk Kyant, Zingalain, and Pauk Taw villages

🚩🚩 5. SAC soldier killed in sniper attack on military checkpoint in Thekone; 5 rockets fired at Pyusawhti village in Pakokku

At around 3:45 PM on July 4, revolutionary forces from Battalion 3601 of the People’s Defense Force – Pyay District (PPDF) launched a sniper attack on a military inspection checkpoint operated by junta troops in Taethipin Village, Thekone Township. One SAC soldier was killed in the attack.

Despite the junta troops returning fire with small arms, the resistance fighters withdrew safely without sustaining any casualties.

The targeted checkpoint is reportedly notorious for confiscating civilian goods, extorting money, verbally abusing civilians, and arresting youths and students without reason.

Similarly, COBRA ONE, the heavy artillery unit of Pakokku PaKaPha, reported that five rockets were launched at Shinmakan (Pasasa) Village, east of Kamma, in Pakokku Township, Magway Region.

Two rockets were fired at 4:00 PM and three more at 8:30 PM on July 6. The rockets hit the center of the village, causing damage, though exact casualties were not specified.

This operation was jointly carried out by:

  • Pakokku Township Battalion 1 (PaKaPha)
  • COBRA ONE (Pakokku Heavy Artillery Unit)
  • District PaKaPha Detachment 5 (Eyadawng)
  • Zone 1 Defense Force (PLO Young Force)

🚩🚩 6. Village administrator involved in drugs and conscription for SAC arrested in Myeik District

The administrator of Maetaw Village in Kyunsu Township, Tanintharyi Region, known for selling and using narcotics and recruiting forced conscripts for the military junta, was arrested at his residence, according to Battalion 2 of Myeik District.

On July 5, a joint team comprising Battalion 2 of Myeik District, Zone 6 of Tanintharyi PaKaPha, and Daungnet Group raided the house of Administrator Aung Myint. He initially fled but was tracked down.

During the follow-up operation, he and his associates resisted arrest using sticks and machetes. The team fired two warning shots, after which the group dispersed, and Aung Myint was apprehended.

Later that night, at around 10:30 PM, an SAC military boat approached resistance territory and opened fire. During this distraction, Aung Myint attempted to escape by shouting and causing a commotion, prompting security forces to re-secure the area.

Aung Myint had repeatedly been warned for illegally recruiting conscripts, collecting money on behalf of SAC troops, and being involved in the drug trade. At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly under the influence of drugs and behaving erratically.

🚩🚩 7. Two junta soldiers who fled from Natyaykantaung outpost captured in Ngape Township

The People’s Independence Army (PIA) announced that it had captured two junta soldiers who had deserted from the main outpost at Natyaykantaung Strategic Hill in Ngape Township, Magway Region. The deserters had previously been forcibly conscripted by the junta.

Confiscated from them were:

  • 4 ENERGA rifle grenades
  • 3 hand grenades
  • 1 MA-1 rifle
  • 7 magazines
  • 280 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition
  • 1 military-issued backpack
  • 1 full set of camouflage uniform

The PIA stated that the two deserters are being securely detained under the terms of the POW Law. Civilians were also informed that if the junta threatens their family members with forced conscription, they should contact the PIO/PIA for assistance.

🚩🚩 8. 14 junta conscripts from Tanintharyi and Chin State defect with weapons

A total of 14 forcibly conscripted junta soldiers in Tanintharyi Region and Chin State have defected along with their weapons and ammunition.

Three of the defectors, previously conscripted into Battalion 1 of Thayet District, surrendered with:

  • 2 MA-1 rifles
  • 6 magazines
  • 120 rounds of ammunition
  • 1 hand grenade

They were welcomed with dignity, provided humanitarian support, and awarded a recognition incentive of 1 million kyats each.

Similarly, 11 junta soldiers from a marching column in Chin State made contact with the underground UG group in Kalay and defected.

These 11 brought with them:

  • 6 MA-1 rifles
  • 2 MA-3 rifles
  • 15 magazines
  • 562 rounds of ammunition

Due to limited funds, supporters are being kindly requested to assist with providing recognition awards for these 11 new defectors.
