๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. Military Council’s 1,000-Troop Offensive in Myingyan: Both Sides Suffer Casualties, MBT Forced to Abandon Some Bases
August 12
Radio NUG
According to the Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT) force, the Military Council launched an offensive of about 1,000 troops near Myingyan Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region, forcing MBT to abandon some of its bases.
The offensive began on July 31. MBT reports that they managed to break up the enemy columns and cause them to flee in panic twice—once on August 1 and again on August 2.
However, the Military Council replenished its forces, carried out daily airstrike support, and renewed its advance. Although the revolutionary forces resisted in unity, ammunition shortages forced them to abandon their bases on August 10.
Between July 31 and August 10—an 11-day battle period—MBT estimates that at least 70 junta soldiers were killed, over 170 wounded, and some weapons and ammunition seized from the enemy.
MBT also suffered the loss of several prominent members:
- Commander Ye Baw Zaw Gyi (Special Commando Unit)
- Deputy Commander Ye Baw Wunna
- Ye Baw Kywe Gyi
- Ye Baw Black Shar
- Ye Baw Ko Phet (MBT Column 5)
In addition, MBT lost some weapons and ammunition.
The battle saw joint participation from PDF Battalions 1, 2, 7, and 8, Bo Sar Pyauk Tiger Force, Bear Force, Myingyan District People’s Defence Team, Taungtha Township People’s Defence Team, and other allied units, some of whom also sustained casualties.
