October 11
Radio NUG
The National Unity Government (NUG), the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), and Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs), along with other concerned entities, have collectively issued a statement outlining five key demands to ASEAN in order to resolve Myanmar’s ongoing crisis.
The five demands are as follows:
- Non-recognition and rejection of the military council’s so-called elections, as they are illegitimate and contradict ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus.
- Immediate cessation of aerial bombings and heavy artillery attacks against civilians, and support for local protection networks.
- Facilitation of cross-border humanitarian aid to conflict-affected areas in coordination with local organizations.
- Immediate release of political prisoners, including President U Win Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
- Diplomatic and political suspension of the military council from all ASEAN-related meetings and engagements for its non-compliance with the consensus.
The joint statement further emphasized that only a political and humanitarian framework based on the Myanmar people’s aspirations for peace, justice, democracy, and a federal union can be acceptable. It also acknowledged the leadership and efforts of Malaysia, as the current ASEAN Chair, and its Special Envoy, Tan Sri Othman Hashim, while urging ASEAN to stand with the people of Myanmar and refuse to recognize the military junta’s legitimacy.
Under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, Special Envoy Tan Sri Othman Hashim convened Stakeholder Engagement Meetings (SEMs) on Myanmar’s crisis, which were attended by representatives from NUG, NUCC, CRPH, EROs, and other relevant organizations.

๐๐ 2. Honoring the Dreams and Opportunities of Myanmar Girls on the International Day of the Girl
October 11
Radio NUG
October 11 marks the International Day of the Girl, which was first observed in 2012. On this occasion, the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs (MOWYCA) under the National Unity Government (NUG) issued a message recognizing and celebrating the voices, dreams, and rights of girls around the world.
This year’s observance aims to amplify the voices of girls, highlight their dreams, educational opportunities, safety, and dignity, and promote awareness and empowerment. However, in Myanmar, due to the ongoing military conflict, countless girls cannot attend school, are displaced from their homes, or are struggling to survive amid violence and instability.
Despite these hardships, the statement notes that many girls continue to hold onto their dreams, determination, resilience, and hope. It calls upon all to listen to their voices and create more opportunities for their future.
The International Day of the Girl serves as a global reminder to promote equal opportunities for girls and to address gender inequality. MOWYCA reaffirmed its commitment to advance these goals and to take practical actions toward realizing equality and empowerment for all girls in Myanmar.
