๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. AA Captures Military Point 666 Camp in Pantaung Township; Offensive Ongoing to Fully Seize Natyekan Strategic Hill
October 16
The Arakan Army (AA) has captured the Myanmar military’s Point 666 hill camp in Pantaung Township, Bago Region, and is now conducting further offensives to completely seize control of Natyekan Strategic Hill, according to an official statement released by the AA.
The statement said that the Point 666 camp, located south of Pugankwe Village (also known as Pankankwe) in Pantaung Township, was attacked by AA forces from three sides beginning at 9:05 a.m. on October 14. After approximately three hours of intense fighting, the AA successfully captured the camp.
The AA noted that clashes around Point 666 and its surrounding areas had already been ongoing for quite some time, but that the main offensive to seize the camp began on October 14, when fighting intensified.
During the capture of the camp, the AA seized several bodies of junta soldiers, along with weapons, ammunition, and military equipment. The statement also confirmed that some AA soldiers were killed in action.
In the same statement, the AA provided an update on the much-discussed situation at Natyekan Strategic Hill.
The AA explained that this strategic military base—critical to the junta’s operations—is now almost entirely under AA control, and that final assaults are underway to secure the remaining strongpoints.
It added that ongoing clashes continue in areas where junta troops are retreating in disarray, and that AA forces are treating surrendering soldiers humanely, in accordance with the rules of war and humanitarian principles.
Additionally, the AA reported that heavy fighting is also taking place around Sittwe Township, where junta forces are using artillery and drones in counteroffensives to defend against AA advances. The fighting has escalated significantly in recent days.
The AA further stated that along the Rakhine–Bago, Rakhine–Magway, and Rakhine–Ayeyarwady border regions, its forces are coordinating counteroffensives with effective defensive operations to repel junta attacks.
According to field sources, a brief clash also occurred near Setsetyo Village in Yekyi Township, Ayeyarwady Region, at 3:55 p.m. on October 15.

October 16
The People’s Defense Force Battalion 3601 (PPDF 3601) in Paungde Township, Pyay District, Bago Region, announced today that it had executed the village administrator of Yay Seik Gyi Village for actively assisting the junta’s planned election.
The operation took place on October 13, when Revolutionary Unit 5 under PPDF 3601 Battalion, operating under Strategic Command 21, shot and killed the administrator, Win Myint, at his residence.
According to the statement, Win Myint was targeted because he was recruiting young people for forced military service and mobilizing local support for the junta’s election, serving as a direct facilitator of the junta’s oppressive system.
Following the execution, junta troops arrived in the area that same night and conducted drone and grenade attacks.
The junta’s bombs landed once inside Yay Seik Gyi Village and twice inside Nwar Hsan Kone Village, but despite small-arms fire exchanges that followed, no PPDF members were harmed, according to the statement.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. KIA Refutes Junta Supporters’ False Claim that 11 KIA/KPDF/PDF Members Surrendered
October 16
The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) has dismissed as false propaganda the junta supporters’ claim that 11 members of the KIA, KPDF, and PDF in Putao Township had surrendered their weapons and defected, according to a statement issued by the KIA Information Department on the evening of October 15.
The KIA said the false claim was circulated online on October 13 with photos showing supposed “surrendered members” being handed over to their families at the Northern Command Headquarters in Myitkyina, which the junta supporters used for propaganda purposes.
The KIA further explained that on October 7, in Kawnglanhpu area, Putao Township, the junta had forced every household to send one representative, threatening a fine of 15,000 kyats per person for noncompliance, and compelled participants to publicly declare opposition to the KIO/KIA.
Local residents told the KIA that no one in the Putao region opposes KIA, KPDF, or PDF forces, and that those who took part in the protest did so under junta coercion and threats.
Following that incident, eight Kachin diaspora organizations abroad issued a joint statement on October 10, denouncing the junta’s coercive rally.
Their statement declared that the so-called demonstration—organized under the names of Kawnglanhpu and Putao residents—was actually a junta-staged public rally conducted by the military and its allied groups, without any genuine representation of the people’s will.
The Putao Rawang Literary and Cultural Association also condemned the event, stating that it was forcibly orchestrated and did not reflect the true will of the local people.
KIA spokesperson Major Naw Bu stated that spreading false and misleading news to manipulate public opinion is a common tactic of the junta, alongside its ongoing military offensives in areas controlled by KIA and PDF joint forces.
He added that while fierce clashes are taking place in Lachid, Waingmaw, Hpakant, and Bhamo Townships, the junta’s propaganda campaigns are designed to cover up its battlefield losses in Kachin State.
