📌📌 1. Assistance Provided to 320 Laid-off Workers at Melon Biotech (Thailand) Co., Ltd in Chachoengsao, Thailand
Around 320 workers from Melon Biotech (Thailand) Co., Ltd, a cosmetics manufacturing factory located in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand, were suddenly dismissed from their jobs on October 1 without prior notice. Following this, on October 3, representatives from the MHAC Alliance visited the workers to provide support and mediation.
The workers had originally been employed at the factory through The First Employment Agency. On October 1, officials from The First visited the workers’ dormitories and informed them that the factory had terminated their employment and that they no longer needed to report to work.
As a result, a complaint was filed with the Sawatdee Kan Office in the area. Relevant authorities subsequently inspected the case and are now working to ensure the workers receive full compensation, including severance pay and other entitlements.
On October 5, a negotiation meeting was held at the Chachoengsao Provincial Office of Labour Protection and Welfare between the factory owner and representatives of the workers. By October 7, in the presence of officials from the Sawatdee Kan Office, The First Employment Agency was required to compensate all 320 dismissed workers with severance payments totaling 3,045,600 baht, as well as return all previously collected fees, such as CI book processing fees and other deposits.

📌📌 4. Nearly One in Five Youths in Myanmar Are Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEET), Says UNDP Report
According to the UNDP Myanmar report, nearly one in five young people—approximately three million youth—are currently in a NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) situation.
This issue is particularly severe among young women, with about 25% of them being NEET. The highest exclusion rates are recorded in conflict-affected areas such as Kayah State (42%) and Rakhine State (32%).
Such exclusion has caused young people to lose opportunities for skill development, income generation, and social advancement. Moreover, gender inequality, disability, and regional disparities further deepen this gap, even in urban centers like Yangon, where there remains a stark contrast between young people’s aspirations and their actual opportunities.
The UNDP warned that if this issue is not urgently addressed, Myanmar could face long-term poverty, social exclusion, and a loss of human capital potential.
