On September 15, U Kyaw Ni, Deputy Minister for the NUG’s Ministry of Labour, stated on social media platform Facebook regarding the military junta’s ordering of migrant workers to remit 25 percent of their salaries back home through its banking system:
“The terrorist military is facing defeat from all sides. On the other hand, the spring revolution of the people is getting victories on all sides. The military group, who have been gradually defeated on the financial front in addition to the military front, is in need of financing for their survival, particularly foreign currency. In order to meet this need, they have been frantically trying to get it over the remittances by the Myanmar migrant workers who are working abroad to their families. It is especially necessary for [oversea employment] agencies not to take any deductions from workers’ wages for their own interests.”
He also emphasised that there is no need to be afraid of the military junta which is deteriorating but should respect and appreciate the people’s revolution that is progressing and succeeding.
He issued a dire warning to those involved with the military junta, saying, “Embracing the terrorist military council may result in your downfall alongside theirs, whereas cooperating in the revolution could lead to being appreciated by the public in the future federal union.”
