๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Arakan Army Advances Towards Full Capture of Gwa Township

December 22
The Arakan Army (AA) announced that they are intensifying efforts to fully capture Gwa Township, the last of four towns targeted in simultaneous offensives. Following the successful seizure of the Western Regional Military Command headquarters in Ann Township on December 20, AA disclosed updates on the situation in Gwa.

According to the AA, the junta forces in Gwa are suffering heavy losses daily, with camps being abandoned one after another. Despite reinforcements arriving from Yangon and Ayeyarwady regions, the newly conscripted and forcibly recruited soldiers lack morale and are quickly demoralized.

The AA further noted that the junta's forces are disorganized and retreating in chaos, with Gwa Township, the southernmost town in the Rakhine region, expected to fall within days. Over the past year of clashes in Rakhine, the AA has managed to liberate multiple townships, including Ann, Minbya, and Buthidaung, from military control.

December 22
The Arakan Army has warned that all war crimes committed by the military junta will be meticulously documented and that perpetrators, including soldiers and commanders, will face appropriate punishment when apprehended.

The statement highlights the junta's ongoing war crimes, including bombings of civilian areas such as hospitals, schools, places of worship, and refugee camps, as well as the destruction of homes, villages, and bridges. Such actions, the AA stated, are a continuation of the fascist tendencies of the regime.

The AA vowed to hold the junta accountable for its atrocities, emphasizing that these war crimes are not limited to the Rakhine region but occur nationwide. They also reported that the junta, facing defeats in Gwa Township, has resorted to burning villages and destroying infrastructure as they retreat.
