๐๐ 1. NUG and NUCC Declare Junta Has No Authority to Hold Elections Due to Illegitimate Power Seizure
December 25 – The National Unity Government (NUG) and the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) jointly declared that the military junta, having seized power illegally, does not have the authority to organize or oversee any election.
In their joint statement, the NUG and NUCC emphasized that any elections held by the military junta are mere attempts to prolong their illegitimate rule through sham processes. They reaffirmed the validity of the 2020 general election results, which were officially recognized by the public and remain legitimate to this day.
The military junta was accused of unlawfully annulling the 2020 general election results to secure state power. The NUG and NUCC stated that any election under these circumstances would lack legitimacy and serve only as a facade to extend military control.
The statement highlighted that the junta violated the provisions of the 2008 Constitution as of February 1, 2021, rendering the Constitution defunct. Furthermore, the Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), which emerged on March 31, 2021, based on the 2020 election results, had formally abolished the widely rejected 2008 Constitution.
Political parties endorsed by the people continue to face oppression, and various forms of persecution are ongoing, as stated in the announcement.

๐๐ 2. NUG and NUCC Reject External Interference in Myanmar’s Political Destiny
December 25 – The NUG and NUCC declared that neither the junta nor any foreign entity has the right to decide Myanmar's political destiny. They asserted that Myanmar's people, in alignment with their aspirations for democratic reform, will determine their own future through collective efforts.
In their joint statement, the NUG and NUCC reiterated their rejection of the sham elections planned by the military junta, stating that such elections aim solely to extend the junta's rule.
The statement also detailed the consequences of ongoing resistance movements, including rising numbers of internally displaced persons and forced conscription of youths aged 18–35 by the military. The junta reportedly controls less than half of the country, with revolutionary forces having gained control over more than 90 townships, covering over 50% of the national territory.
Given these conditions, the NUG and NUCC warned that any elections conducted by the junta would lack credibility, be marred by coercion, and exclude domestic and international election monitors.
The NUG and NUCC further emphasized that sham elections will neither halt Myanmar's Spring Revolution nor serve as a solution to its political crisis. They stressed that true democratic reform requires dismantling military involvement in politics and striving toward a Federal Democratic Union.

December 25 – Over 500 workers recruited for jobs in China have been stranded in Muse, a town under junta control near the Myanmar-China border, according to the PSLF/TNLA Information and Public Relations Department.
These workers, mostly young women, were promised jobs in Ruili, China, but have been trapped in Muse for over three months under dire conditions. Recruiters reportedly demanded 600,000 MMK (approximately USD 285) from workers wishing to return home, while food supplies remain insufficient.
The report noted that some individuals have managed to escape, but many remain stranded without support. The PSLF/TNLA advised young people to be cautious about trusting unverified recruitment schemes and to ensure they have reliable connections before seeking jobs abroad.

๐๐ 4. CDF CDM Siyin Destroys 3 Acres of Opium Fields in Chin State
December 25 – The Chin Defense Force (CDF CDM Siyin) announced the destruction of approximately three acres of opium fields in the Siyin region of Tedim Township, Chin State, as part of their anti-drug campaign.
According to their December 19 resolution, the group plans to continue eradicating opium cultivation in the area, despite the claims of some local farmers that economic hardship forced them into this trade. The CDF CDM Siyin attributed the opium farming to manipulation by profit-driven businessmen exploiting the region’s instability.
The group emphasized that opium cultivation poses long-term harm to future generations and pledged to maintain their drug-free initiative across the territory under their control.
