Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than has called for action against individuals who neglect the revolution after gaining power and authority. This statement was made during the National Unity Government's Cabinet Meeting No. 31/2024.

The Prime Minister stated:
"At this moment, everyone must focus entirely on the revolution. While some have joined the revolution, it has come to light that there are cases where people, after obtaining power and authority, have disregarded the revolution and begun to revert to the practices of the authoritarian regimes they opposed. I urge the relevant departments to address these matters decisively and thoroughly."

Additionally, he remarked that 2025 will be a year of major challenges requiring the best possible preparation. He emphasized the need to utilize time, people, and resources efficiently to meet these challenges.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Human Rights Deputy Minister Calls for Immediate Humanitarian Assistance After Fire at Rohingya Refugee Camp

Deputy Minister for Human Rights U Aung Kyaw Moe has urged humanitarian organizations to provide immediate assistance to those affected by a fire at a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh. He made the appeal via social media in December.

"The fire at the Rohingya refugee camp has displaced numerous families, leaving them homeless. The cries of women, children, and the elderly from the scene of the fire compel us to step up our efforts. I call on humanitarian aid organizations to urgently deliver emergency assistance," he stated.

The fire occurred on December 24 in Kutupalong Rohingya Refugee Camp, located in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh. It affected Block C2, C3, C4, and C5 of Camp 1-West, destroying 369 homes, with an additional 100 homes in Block C1 also damaged.

Ko Htein Lin, son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, continues his advocacy for her release. On Christmas Day, December 25, he expressed longing for his mother and shared his thoughts through a televised statement.

"During this Christmas season, I hope my mother is surrounded by peace and tranquility. We, her children, always think of her and send our love and prayers from afar," Ko Htein Lin said.

Following the military coup on February 1, 2021, both President U Win Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi were unlawfully detained by the military regime.

The Myanmar Political Prisoners Network (PPNM) announced on December 26 that financial support from the "Christmas Gift Fund – 5,000 Kyats for Political Prisoners" initiative will be distributed to 20 political prisoners.

The funds raised include 5,300 Thai baht (approximately 530,000 kyats) and 311,800 Myanmar kyats. Each of the 20 political prisoners will receive 50,000 kyats to assist with their hardships.

PPNM expressed deep gratitude to each donor on behalf of the political prisoners, highlighting that the support brings tangible relief to those incarcerated.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. The NUG Ministry of Labor Continues Active Support for Migrant Workers

The Ministry of Labor under the National Unity Government (NUG) is actively supporting migrant workers, according to official reports. In the third week of December, the ministry issued an announcement highlighting its efforts.

"Five workers employed at LPN Engineer Co. Ltd., located in Phikasem, Suan (63), Bangkok, Thailand, reported that they had not received their wages for over eight months. The ministry assisted in verifying the necessary details and filed an official complaint on their behalf at the Sawasdee Khan Office," the statement noted.

Additionally, 68 workers who were set to begin employment at the KC Solar factory in Phetchaburi, Thailand, reported that they had not started work and were living in a dormitory. It was also revealed that their employer had confiscated their bank account books. The ministry intervened by visiting the DOE office in Phetchaburi district and filing complaints while coordinating with relevant agencies and the factory owner.

As a result of these interventions, agreements were reached to secure new employment for the affected workers, issue work permits, and return the confiscated bank account books. The Ministry of Labor also reminded workers that violations of labor rights could be reported directly via the ministry’s official page.

The Public Defense Force (PDF) of Taungtha Township has publicly denied allegations of extortion and intimidation of local residents.

This statement was issued following social media reports on December 25 alleging that the "TTA Taungtha Guerrilla Force" had demanded MMK 10 million from an agricultural supplies store in Taungtha. The PDF clarified that it had no involvement in such activities and assured the public of its accountability.

The PDF also condemned the act of extortion, whether it was orchestrated by individuals or by the military regime, describing it as a despicable act. The statement emphasized that the Spring Revolution is a people-powered movement supported by citizens to eradicate the fascist military regime from Myanmar.

The Taungtha PDF reaffirmed its role as a representative of the people and the revolutionary forces in the township, committed to protecting the public. It further pledged that it had never engaged in or would ever engage in actions that cause disruption or fear among the people, such as extortion. Instead, it vowed to stand firmly as a protective force for the people, honoring its commitment to their safety and welfare.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 7. Thai Authorities Provide Medical Assistance for Diarrheal Disease at the Thai-Myanmar Border

Thai authorities have been providing medical assistance and medication for diarrhea-related illnesses affecting Myanmar nationals at the Thai-Myanmar border. According to the Bangkok Post, the relief efforts included public awareness campaigns and the distribution of medicines throughout December.

Reports indicate that over 300 cases of diarrheal disease were recorded in Shwe Kokko, Myawaddy Township, following which Thai authorities temporarily closed some border checkpoints on their side.

The outbreak has reportedly caused fatalities in Myanmar, prompting stricter screening measures on the Thai side, particularly in Mae Sot and surrounding areas.
