KNDF Deputy Commander-in-Chief Mawwi has issued an invitation via social media, calling on all individuals within the military council for various reasons to defect with their weapons and join the people’s side.

“As General Tun Myat Naing stated, our KNDF also holds both righteousness and arms. We invite all those who, for various reasons, are in the military council to defect with their weapons and join the people’s side. KNDF will provide the best support,” he said.


The military council troops have experienced numerous surrenders during the first and second phases of Operation 1027, including entire battalions. Similar cases have also occurred in other states and regions.

An attack on a military council checkpoint located on the southern end of the Mezalit Dam bridge in Pwintbyu Township resulted in the deaths of three soldiers, confirmed by Battalion No. 7 of Minbu District on December 2.


The attack on November 27 was reportedly carried out by Battalion No. 7 of Minbu District, Magway Division’s PDF, and the Yenanthar Column in collaboration with the Pwintbyu PDF.


The clash led to the deaths of three military council personnel, and some weapons and ammunition were seized, confirmed by Battalion No. 7 of Minbu District.


Additionally, around 20 military council troops dispatched to retrieve the bodies encountered remote mine attacks, resulting in further casualties.

5. At least 20 political prisoners died from inadequate medical care in 2024.

At least 20 political prisoners died from insufficient medical care within the first 11 months of 2024, according to a statement released by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) on December 2.


“Between January 1 and November 30, 2024, at least 20 political prisoners—18 men and 2 women—died due to inadequate medical care in prisons. The failure of prison authorities to provide sufficient medical treatment has directly contributed to these deaths,” the AAPP reported.


The lack of proper medical care for prisoners was described as a deliberate act by the authorities to obstruct and cause the deaths of political detainees.
