๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. PDF Restricts Travel on Tanintharyi-Mawtaung Road Amid Intense Fighting

January 5
The People's Defense Force (PDF) has issued a warning to civilians to avoid using the Tanintharyi-Mawtaung road due to heavy clashes between junta forces and revolutionary troops in Tanintharyi Township.

Since mid-December, junta forces have launched offensives in Tanintharyi Township, resulting in intense battles. On January 4, the Black Cobra Column issued a notice prohibiting all vehicles from traveling between Yay Phyu and The Phyu villages and from The Phyu to the Mawtaung border area.

As the junta faces growing casualties, it has intensified airstrikes, leading to deteriorating road security. Consequently, no passenger or private vehicles are permitted to pass through the area. The PDF has stated that the travel restrictions are intended to prevent harm to civilians amid the ongoing conflict.

In mid-December, temporary restrictions were similarly imposed on the Tanintharyi-Mawtaung road, forcing over ten villages, including Thein Khun, The Phyu, and Thon Kha, to evacuate due to escalating hostilities. The Black Cobra Column has confirmed that the current directive remains in effect until further official notice.
