January 5
The Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) have announced that an attack on the Ketumati Air Base in Taungoo, Bago Region, using 12 short-range missiles resulted in the deaths of 7 personnel, including 3 senior officers, and the destruction of 2 aircraft.
On the morning of January 4, 12 short-range missiles (107 mm) were launched at the Ketumati Air Base in Taungoo. According to BWM's statement, 10 of the missiles hit their targets, causing extensive damage. The attack led to the deaths of the Air Force Chief, 3 officers, and 4 lower-ranking personnel, while 2 other officers and 8 personnel sustained critical injuries.
Additionally, two K8 aircraft were damaged, with shattered windshields and broken shock bars causing severe damage to the aircraft's front sections. The airfield runway in front of the hangar was destroyed, and administrative offices, officer residences, and kitchens also sustained damage, with some areas catching fire.
BWM reported that this information aligns with details from three separate military intelligence sources. The group stated that while the air base had been actively operating K8, MiG-29, and Mi-35 aircraft until December 3, operations have significantly decreased since the attack. Following the missile strikes, only one Mi-35 helicopter was seen in operation.
The attack was reportedly carried out under the leadership of BWM in collaboration with the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), the Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and a Special Regional Group from Southern Shan State.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. After a Month of Battle, KIA and Allied Forces Gain Foothold in Some Areas of Bhamo Town
January 5
After a month-long offensive aimed at capturing Bhamo, Kachin State, KIA (Kachin Independence Army) and allied forces have reportedly established positions in certain areas of the town, according to local reports.
The KIA and allied forces launched the offensive on December 4, targeting police stations, government offices, and administrative compounds within Bhamo. According to KIA’s spokesperson Major Naw Bu, key outposts have been overrun, while the remaining military garrisons are still under attack.
Although the allied forces have not yet captured all military bases, they have neutralized many defensive positions. Police stations and civilian offices in the town remain non-operational, with the military administration retreating to Sector Command 21 for protection.
KIA and allied forces now control most residential neighborhoods in Bhamo, forcing junta troops to regroup at Sector Command 21 and nearby garrisons. The junta has been using airstrikes and heavy artillery to mount a counter-offensive. Military analysts anticipate that the battles will intensify as junta forces consolidate their defenses.
Since the conflict began, thousands of civilians have fled the town, and many displaced families are now in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Meanwhile, KIA and its allies are also conducting attacks on other nearby military positions, including battalions 319, 601, and 352 in Mansi Township.
Bhamo, the second-largest city in Kachin State and home to Sector Command 21, is considered a strategically significant location due to its proximity to the Chinese border and its role as a transportation hub for Kachin, Sagaing, and northern Shan State.
