๐๐ 1. International Community Urged to Cease Purchase of Myanmar’s Oil and Gas: Acting President
January 7
The Acting President, Duwa Lashi La, stated during an interview with Al Jazeera that the international community must stop purchasing Myanmar's oil and natural gas, as it serves as a significant financial resource for the military regime.
"We firmly believe that, with coordinated and simultaneous efforts between the international community and the resistance forces opposing the SAC (State Administration Council), the SAC can be swiftly dismantled. To achieve this goal, it is crucial to cut off financial flows to the SAC. The military has been sustained by the robust resources it has accumulated over decades of holding the country in its grip. This must be halted. The international community must stop buying oil and natural gas from Myanmar, which is one of the military’s major sources of revenue. Furthermore, the supply of aviation fuel and the sale of weapons to the military must also cease," the Acting President said.
He also urged the international community to sever all forms of communication, engagement, and recognition of the SAC, emphasizing the importance of isolating the military junta to expedite its downfall.

๐๐ 2. Rotational Power Cuts Impacting Lives in Yangon Region
January 7
The daily lives of people in the Yangon Region are being disrupted by rotational power cuts implemented by the SAC. According to reports, the region has been divided into three groups, with each group receiving electricity for four hours followed by an eight-hour outage.
Currently, the SAC is producing only about 2,200 megawatts per day, resulting in a 50% reduction in the electricity supply.
"Electricity barely comes anymore. Even when it does, it only stays for a short time before it cuts off again. I can't cook or pump water. Even when the power comes, it’s not consistent," said a woman living in Yangon.
According to the SAC's Ministry of Electricity, in 2025, electricity will be distributed as follows: 48% to Yangon Region, 17% to Mandalay Region, and 35% to the other states and regions. This uneven distribution further exacerbates the situation for people across the country.
