๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Successful Convening of the First 2025 CDF-MATUPI (Brigade-1) Commanders’ Meeting

It has been announced that the first CDF-MATUPI (Brigade-1) commanders' meeting of 2025 was successfully held.
During the meeting, the following matters were discussed and confirmed:

  • Strengthening military and political strategies,
  • Plans for the continued implementation of brigade operations,
  • Matters related to transportation and logistics,
  • Public benefit projects, and
  • Resettlement initiatives.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Two Civilians Injured Due to Junta’s Violent Attacks in Khalelwihtu District

The Karen National Union (KNU) has reported that airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks by junta forces in Khalelwihtu District, under the administration of KNU’s Kawthoolei, injured two civilians.
On January 2 at 3:18 PM, junta forces stationed at Kwinchaung fired four 81mm shells, which landed and exploded between Kholo Village and Pyantalin Village in Le Do Township. At 4:18 PM, one additional 122mm shell was fired, exploding west of Kyaungchit. As a result, a 15-year-old boy named Maung Chit Min Aung sustained injuries.
On January 3 at 1:55 PM, another 120mm shell was fired, landing and exploding in Intainkone Village. This incident injured a 22-year-old woman named Naw Wah Wah Pho and damaged two houses.
Additionally, on January 3 at 1:40 PM, junta forces carried out an airstrike using four 500-pound bombs targeting Sawkee and Theekho Villages in Mu Township.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Civilian Homes in Myothit Village Destroyed Due to Junta’s Arson Attacks

On January 5, junta forces occupying Yinnmarbin Town reportedly raided Myothit Village in Yinnmarbin Township, setting fire to civilian properties.
According to local sources, junta forces that had vacated the Department of Agriculture office in Yinnmarbin entered Myothit Village around 11:00 AM on January 5. During the raid, two residential houses, four storage facilities (for rice and cattle feed), one tractor, one feed-mixing machine, one motorbike, and two bicycles were burned down. Additionally, one cow sustained burn injuries.
The same junta forces reportedly returned to Yinnmarbin Town at around 2:50 PM on January 6. It is also reported that this group has been conducting regular inspections of civilian vehicles and extorting money from travelers in Yinnmarbin.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Ongoing Clashes Between DPLA and Junta Forces in Kyauk Gu Region

Ongoing clashes between the Dhanu People’s Liberation Army (DPLA) and junta forces in Kyauk Gu Region, Yatsauk Township, have resulted in the capture of one drone by the DPLA, as confirmed by the group on January 6.
On January 4, skirmishes occurred at Kyauk Gu Police Station and the Kyauk Gu Artillery Base (AMTA-349). On January 5, further clashes were reported between Taunghtip Village and Intaw Town. Investigations into the casualties on the junta's side are ongoing.
The junta has also been indiscriminately firing heavy artillery at civilian villages in non-military zones. Shelling was reported in Khe Gyar Village and Phaet Yin Kon Village, causing damage to buildings and properties.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. First Warning Issued to Eight Individuals Exploiting Fellow Myanmar Nationals in Jinghong City, China

Due to economic hardships in Myanmar, many citizens have sought work in foreign countries, including China. However, it has been reported that some Myanmar nationals are exploiting their fellow countrymen instead of supporting and protecting them.
The "Vissano People’s Defense Force" issued its first warning to eight individuals collaborating with Chinese authorities in Jinghong City, including Moe Thu, Bae Oo, Ko Myo, Shan Lay, Palaung, and Han Nyunt, along with two women. They are accused of reporting and arresting Myanmar nationals to deport them back to Myanmar and confiscating motorbikes.
The warning demands that such activities cease before the Chinese New Year. Failure to comply will result in consequences not only for the individuals involved but also for their families and locations, as stated by the Vissano People’s Defense Force.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Over 50 Junta Soldiers Killed in a Six-Day Battle with PDF Allied Forces in Taungoo District

In Taungoo District, Bago Region, clashes occurred over six days between the junta forces and allied units of the People's Defense Forces (PDF) in Phyu Township and Oak Twin Township. The battles resulted in over 50 junta soldiers killed, according to a statement released by Battalion (3502).

From December 26 to 31, engagements took place in villages including Myat Ni Kwin, Kyu Inn, Tharyar Kone, Nyo Khin, Granmatee, Htan Kone, and Wet Kone. During these encounters, the allied forces employed drones, 60mm mortars, and landmines to ambush and attack, resulting in over 50 junta casualties and numerous injuries.

On the allied side, one PDF fighter was killed, and four others were injured. The junta's retaliatory attacks, including shelling from artillery Battalion 73 based in Oatpyat and Kan Kalyay villages, as well as the use of drones and 60mm mortars, caused the deaths of 11 innocent civilians and injured 12 others. Additionally, civilian homes, buildings, and religious sites were destroyed or damaged.

Reports also indicate that junta soldiers disguised themselves in PDF uniforms, carrying weapons typically associated with resistance fighters, to loot and confiscate items from villagers' homes while also subjecting civilians to physical abuse.

Due to the junta's violent actions, villagers from Myat Ni Kwin, Tharyar Kone, Kyu Inn, Nyo Khin, Htan Kone, Pauk Kone, Granmatee, Ma Ngein Su, and Hlay Swe Myone have fled to nearby villages for safety.

The operation was carried out jointly by Battalion (3502), Ayeyarwady Region Battalion (3), Northern Yangon District PDF Attack Group (3), Oak Twin Township PDF, Phyu Township PDF, Battalion (4302) of Tharyar District, and Natmauk Township PDF.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. 45 Weapons Captured After Intercepting Shwebo’s SAC Column (8)

In Shwebo District, Sagaing Region, resistance forces intercepted the junta’s SAC Column (8) operating between Hmathti Village and Min Kone Village in Wetlet Township, successfully capturing 45 weapons, according to the No. 1 Military Region.

On January 5, the 77-soldier Column (8), which departed from Letkaing Village, was attacked following the orders of the Shwebo District Commander. The joint operation included Shwebo District Battalions (1, 2, 4, 5, 15, 23), the District Drone Unit, and the Wetlet Township PDF.

During the engagement, the captured items included:

  • One 60mm mortar launcher
  • One RPG-7 launcher
  • Multiple firearms (e.g., MA-15, MA-4, MA-3, MA-1, G-3, M-79)
  • Thousands of bullets, grenades, and mines
  • Equipment such as large jammers and helmets

Additionally, junta airstrikes were reported. On January 5, at 12:30 PM, a Yak-130 aircraft launched two attacks on Pauk Kan Village, followed by two more attacks at 3:30 PM using a MiG-29 fighter jet.

Similar attacks were conducted earlier, on January 3, near Chaung Son Village and Pauktone Village in Shwebo Township, using drones and ground assaults.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 8. Attack on Junta Forces Stationed at Sin Paung Wae EPC Office

In Magway Region’s Sin Paung Wae Township, resistance forces launched an attack on junta troops stationed at the “Kopein EPC Office” checkpoint along Yangon-Mandalay Highway (Old Route) and Yangon-Taung Twin Gyi Road.

On January 4, around 10 PM, the junta checkpoint, manned by 10 soldiers who had been extorting travelers, was attacked. Six junta soldiers were killed, and others were reportedly injured, according to the Ponna Waddy People’s Defense Force (PDFPNWD).

The operation was conducted by the Ponna Waddy PDF, Tharyar District Battalion (5), Bissano PDF (Taung Twin Gyi), Naypyidaw Military Region Battalion (902) Subdivision (Taung Twin Gyi), Magway Panther Guerilla Force, and Magway Southern Region PDF.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 9. Resistance Forces Attack Junta Column Occupying Aung Nae Bot Village

In Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, resistance forces attacked a 70-strong junta column (Unit 33) stationed in Aung Nae Bot Village, as reported by Battalion (18) of Shwebo District.

The attack, which occurred on January 5, resulted in over 20 junta soldiers killed and three captured alive. Weapons and equipment seized included:

  • Five MA-1 rifles
  • Two hand grenades
  • One directional mine
  • Four landmines
  • One drone motor
  • Other military supplies

The battle lasted approximately five hours. Junta forces conducted more than 20 airstrikes using four jet fighters, including JF-17s. Five resistance fighters sustained non-critical injuries during the engagement.

The operation was executed by Shwebo District Battalions (18 and 23), the "Cat's Claw" Unit, Battalion (18) Subdivisions (1 to 4), and affiliated groups, including "Wetlet Red Elephants" and "Dawn Warriors."

The resistance continues to pursue the retreating junta forces.
