Chinese authorities are actively and closely monitoring the events unfolding in Myanmar, according to Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG) Minister of Foreign Affairs, Daw Zin Mar Aung.

The minister made this remark during the Global Democracy Trends discussion held at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, which she attended as part of her official duties.

"China is highly attentive and deeply engaged in observing the developments within Myanmar. This is because their economic and strategic interests are directly linked to our country. When the military seized power in Myanmar in 2021, China was significantly concerned, as they required a stable environment to continue their economic activities as usual," she explained.

The Global Democracy Trends discussion also included notable participants such as U.S. Senator Christopher A. Coons, Ghanaian Member of Parliament Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, and Polish Member of Parliament Aleksandra UznaΕ„ska-WiΕ›niewska.

On February 21, Myanmar’s Union Minister for Human Rights, U Aung Myo Min, attended and delivered the opening remarks at the Forum on the Human Rights and Humanitarian Situation in Myanmar, held in the Philippines.

The forum was organized by the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines (CHR) in collaboration with Burma Solidarity-Philippines, a civil society organization advocating for human rights.

During the event, Union Minister U Aung Myo Min discussed the ongoing efforts and progress of the revolutionary forces in Myanmar, the human rights violations perpetrated by the military junta, and the challenges faced by ethnic minorities, including the Rohingya population.

Additionally, he urged ASEAN and the Philippines to:

Reject the military junta’s illegitimate elections,

Refrain from providing arms and related materials to the junta,

Strengthen economic sanctions against the regime,

Explore more effective measures for addressing Myanmar’s crisis, and

Avoid recognizing or legitimizing the military junta.

The 78th Union Day Ceremony was organized in Tokyo, Japan, by the Alliance of United Nationalities – Japan (AUN-Japan). Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG), Duwa Lashi La, delivered a speech via Zoom and video broadcast.

Following this, speeches were given by:

U Saw Ba Hla Thein, NUG’s Representative for Japan,

Former Chairman of the Japan-Myanmar Parliamentary Friendship Association, Mr. Nakagawa Masaharu,

Union Minister for Women, Youth, and Children’s Affairs, Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe, and

Advisor to the Ministry of Women, Youth, and Children’s Affairs, Daw Shwe Shwe Sein Latt.

Furthermore, Mr. Katsuya Soda, Secretary-General of the NPO-PEACE organization, was honored with an Outstanding Social Contribution Award during the event.

πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 4. Call for NUG to Dismiss Unlawful Military Leaders, Including Min Aung Hlaing and Soe Win, and Appoint Legitimate Leadership

The Special Advisory Council for Myanmar (SAC-M) welcomed the decision of Myanmar’s legitimate National Unity Government (NUG) to abolish the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC), which is under the control of the military junta, according to a statement released on February 21.

Additionally, SAC-M urged the establishment of a just and independent National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) for Myanmar that complies with the Paris Principles.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that following the removal of the MNHRC leaders appointed by the junta, the unlawful military leaders—including Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his deputy, Vice Senior General Soe Win—should also be dismissed. SAC-M called on NUG to appoint legitimate new leadership to take command of the military.

Additionally, SAC-M urged NUG to dissolve the junta-controlled Union Election Commission and establish a new independent electoral commission. This new body should ensure the preparation and implementation of free, fair, and genuine democratic elections in accordance with the Federal Democracy Charter.

πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 5. Recruitment of 500 CDM Teachers and 1,000 Preservice Teachers for TLEC

The Ta'ang Education Council (TLEC) announced that for the 2025-2026 academic year, there is an urgent need for qualified teachers to ensure the continued operation of basic education schools within Ta'ang regions.

As part of this initiative, TLEC will be recruiting and appointing 500 teachers who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) from the education sector nationwide, along with 1,000 new preservice teachers who have not yet taken up positions under TLEC, according to a statement released by PSLF/TNLA.

Since the 2022-2023 academic year, TLEC has been implementing educational programs aimed at providing learning opportunities for school-age children within Ta'ang regions and ensuring a high-quality education system.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, TLEC successfully operated over 600 basic education schools, serving more than 66,000 students with the support of over 3,500 teachers. Plans for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year include the expansion of more than 700 additional schools in remaining townships, according to the statement.

As part of the visit, YLA members also engaged in a friendly football match with the students. Furthermore, discussions were held with the students on topics related to resistance, politics, youth affairs, and education, fostering mutual learning and collaboration.

The Academy Trophy of actress Paing Phyo Thu was won by a ticket holder from Japan, who held ticket number 225023, during the lucky draw held on the night of February 21.

The gold pendant with Paing Phyo Thu’s signature was won by a ticket holder from Myanmar with ticket number 235092, while three sets of Paing Phyo Thu commemorative earrings were won by participants from Australia, Singapore, and Myanmar, holding ticket numbers 217863, 221757, and 217974, respectively.

"The Academy Trophy Campaign has received overwhelming participation from supporters across the world, far beyond our expectations. I am deeply grateful for this," Paing Phyo Thu expressed. "Out of nearly 15,000 tickets sold, I am truly happy and proud for each and every winner of my commemorative gifts."

The fundraising campaign for Paing Phyo Thu’s Academy Trophy was conducted to support IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) affected by the military conflict in Myanmar. The campaign successfully raised over USD 290,000, and all proceeds will be donated to assist displaced communities.
