In Ta’ang State, within the jurisdiction of Military Region (3) and in Mantong Township, ground troops of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and its ally, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), have recently engaged in mutual disputes. In order to prevent these conflicts from escalating into full-fledged clashes and heightened tensions, the Chief of Staff of PSLF/TNLA, General Tar Hpa Lan, traveled to Mantong on February 28 and urged restraint during a public meeting, according to a statement released by PSLF/TNLA.

Additionally, the statement emphasized that both allied forces must work together to acknowledge and respect each other, ensuring the stability of their alliance. Both sides must take precautions to avoid unnecessary conflicts and should prioritize their alliance agreements. It was also stated that any tensions arising between them must be resolved through negotiation.

Similarly, regarding the ongoing conflict between the TNLA and KIA, the central command of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) issued a directive to the southern military headquarters of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). The directive, written in the Kachin language, instructed that disputes should not be resolved through military means and that security measures should be heightened.

Even before issuing this directive, the KIO leadership had urged both TNLA and KIA to exercise patience and uphold the solidarity of their alliance.

Since early this year, tensions and territorial disputes between KIA and TNLA have arisen not only in Mantong Township but also in other parts of northern Shan State, including Namhpakka. These tensions have led to multiple incidents of ground-level confrontations. However, despite the ongoing disputes, both armed groups have refrained from using firearms against each other.
