๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. NUG Human Rights Minister Denies Allegations of Resistance Forces Attacking a Humanitarian Convoy in Monywa and Sagaing, Calls It a Smear Campaign

March 30

The claim that a humanitarian convoy heading to assist Monywa and Sagaing was attacked with landmines is false and merely an attempt to discredit the resistance forces, said U Aung Myo Min, the Union Minister for Human Rights of the National Unity Government (NUG).

"There are social media posts spreading propaganda that a humanitarian convoy traveling from Monywa to assist Sagaing was hit by a landmine near Myinmu, and that the convoy suffered severe damage. This is entirely untrue. It is a deliberate fabrication aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the resistance forces," the minister clarified.

He further stated that pro-military lobby groups have been spreading false and misleading news through Telegram channels without verifying the information.

"The terrorist military regime, despite the devastating earthquake that has already inflicted great suffering on the people, continues to carry out aerial attacks. As a result, civilians who are already struggling due to the natural disaster are facing additional hardship caused by the junta's airstrikes.

Meanwhile, the National Unity Government has announced a temporary ceasefire to facilitate humanitarian aid and provide assistance based on humanitarian principles. However, at the same time, the military regime is orchestrating and spreading fabricated news to mislead the public and damage the resistance's reputation," the minister added.

Additionally, the Myinmu Township Information Team has confirmed that the reports of a landmine attack on a humanitarian convoy are completely false.

"There were no humanitarian convoys passing through Myinmu Township on March 28, 29, or 30. Therefore, there was no landmine attack as claimed," the Myinmu Township Information Team stated.

Currently, the National Unity Government has announced a temporary suspension of all offensive military operations, except for self-defense measures, in earthquake-affected regions and surrounding areas for two weeks, from March 30 to April 12, to facilitate humanitarian relief efforts.

Since December 4, 2024, heavy clashes have been ongoing between the junta forces and the joint resistance forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in Banmauk. The fighting had somewhat subsided over the past week.

March 30 | Radio NUG

A Taiwanese earthquake relief team, comprising over 100 trained rescuers, including doctors and nurses, was denied entry by the junta, according to reports.

Taiwanese news sources revealed that the rescue team, along with 15 tons of emergency relief supplies and search-and-rescue equipment, was awaiting departure at a Taiwanese airport when the Myanmar military refused to grant entry.

While the junta has permitted rescue teams from Russia, India, China, Thailand, and Singapore, most of the relief efforts have been directed towards Naypyidaw, the military’s administrative stronghold. Critical areas such as Sagaing, which are in dire need of assistance, have reportedly been neglected.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Call to Exclude Min Aung Hlaing from the BIMSTEC Summit and to Expel Myanmar’s Military Junta from BIMSTEC

March 30 | Radio NUG

A formal request has been made to prevent Min Aung Hlaing from being invited to the upcoming BIMSTEC summit and to expel Myanmar’s military junta from the regional organization.

A total of 319 civil society organizations (CSOs) from Myanmar and abroad have signed an open letter demanding that the Thai government and BIMSTEC leaders take the following actions regarding the summit, which is scheduled to be held in Bangkok from April 3 to April 4:

Deny Min Aung Hlaing permission to attend the BIMSTEC summit.

Exclude all representatives and appointees of the military junta from all BIMSTEC meetings and events.

Furthermore, the 319 CSOs have urged BIMSTEC leaders to take a stand against the illegitimate junta and its international crimes by signing and submitting the open letter.

The open letter emphasizes that the Myanmar military junta is not a legitimate government by any definition and lacks any political legitimacy to represent the people of Myanmar in any BIMSTEC meetings or activities—regardless of the level of participation or status of its representatives.
