๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. KSCC Calls for Kayaw Ethnic People to Join the Revolution Hand in Hand with Other Ethnic Brethren Until the End
April 14
Radio NUG
The Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) has expressed its desire for the Kayaw ethnic group to join the revolution hand in hand with fellow ethnic nationalities until the end.
This message was conveyed in a greeting letter issued in commemoration of the 57th Kayaw National Day, which falls on April 15.
KSCC stated that the Kayaw ethnic group has long suffered the oppression of military dictatorship alongside other ethnic groups — not only historically but also under the current circumstances — and has continued to resist collectively.
KSCC emphasized its aspiration for the Kayaw people to participate fully in the revolutionary journey until its conclusion, in solidarity with ethnic brethren, in order to uproot the military dictatorship and establish a federal democracy that guarantees national equality.
It is known that efforts to reunify the dispersed Kayaw people and to reassert the use of the name “Kayaw” began in 1965, spearheaded by ethnic leaders of the group.
Subsequently, April 15, 1968, was designated as Kayaw National Day, with the first commemoration held at Phuntarloku on the banks of the Thuchaung River in the Kayaw region.
