๐๐ 1. NUG Declares a National Week of Mourning and Solidarity from April 13 to April 20
The National Unity Government (NUG) has declared a National Week of Mourning and Solidarity from April 13 to April 20, aiming to provide comfort and support among the people in response to the devastating earthquake.
During this week, NUG, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its representative offices, embassies, and designated locations will hold mourning events, including signing condolence books, offering floral tributes, and conducting gatherings for prayers and well-wishes in accordance with local traditions.
Additionally, memorial and prayer ceremonies will be held to honor the victims and provide strength to the bereaved families. Acts of remembrance such as water libation ceremonies, interfaith prayer services, merit-making, and various support initiatives for the affected communities will be carried out both domestically and internationally.
The NUG also urges international humanitarian organizations and governments that have shown goodwill toward Myanmar to participate in expressing condolences, providing encouragement, and offering prayers, either individually or collectively.
While the NUG successfully mobilized full-scale emergency response efforts within 72 hours in the liberated areas, it expressed deep regret that it could not provide direct assistance in areas controlled by the military junta. The NUG extends its heartfelt apologies to the victims affected by the earthquake in those regions.

๐๐ 2. Only a Legitimate People's Government Can Fully Relieve the Suffering of the People, Acting President Tells the International Community
During an NUG executive meeting, Acting President Duwa Lashi La stated:
"The entire nation understands that the terrorist military junta is willing to commit any atrocity to maintain its grip on power. Therefore, I earnestly appeal to the international community and neighboring countries—only a legitimate people's government can fully relieve the suffering of the people within the country."
He further emphasized that the hardships faced by the people are not temporary wounds that can be healed with mere short-term relief efforts. "The international community and regional countries must recognize that these crises cannot be resolved with quick fixes," he said, underlining the urgent need for a fundamental and lasting solution.

๐๐ 3. "The Terrorist Military Junta Lacks Both the Capability and the Will to Handle the Earthquake Disaster," Says Prime Minister
During the NUG Cabinet Meeting No. 10/2025, Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann stated:
"The terrorist military junta is completely incapable of managing the earthquake disaster, and it has absolutely no intention to do so. Their focus remains solely on consolidating their power rather than aiding the people in distress. This has become evident to all.
Despite the NUG’s decision to halt all offensive operations for two weeks, the junta has continued its aerial bombardments even during this period of disaster relief. This further exposes their cruelty and inhumanity, which is not only alarming but also utterly reprehensible in the eyes of the international community. We must bring global attention to these atrocities."
He also called for unity among all revolutionary forces to overcome the ongoing crisis, emphasizing that the NUG is prepared to collaborate with allied organizations, civil society groups, and humanitarian aid networks to carry out extensive relief efforts.
