3. Myanmar’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, attended the UN Security Council Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflict: Effective Strategies to End and Prevent Grave Violations Against Children, in New York on June 26th. The ambassador, U Kyaw Moe Tun, stated that grave violations committed by the military junta against children in Myanmar have increased by 25% in 2024 compared to 2023. In Myanmar, the number of grave violations against children has heightened significantly since the unlawful military coup in February 2021. He noted that children in Myanmar have been deprived of fundamental rights such as access to education and healthcare while also bearing the brunt of the military’s brutal violence in a grossly disproportionate manner. These ongoing violations clearly highlight the suffering inflicted on the nation’s children. Therefore, the NUG has consistently invited relevant UN agencies and international partners to strengthen the cooperation for the sake of ending grave violations against children and protecting and promoting all children. The UN Security Council must act without any further delay in order to prevent more children from losing their lives and futures. It also urged the Security Council and the international communities to help the children in Myanmar rebuild trust and hope in the UN and the international community.

4. The International Day in Support of Victims of Torture marks on June 26. The Network for Political Prisoners Myanmar (PPNM) highlights the urgent need for aid and protection for torture victims in Myanmar's prisons, interrogation centers, and detention facilities, as well as for those arbitrarily detained. PPNM reports that on June 12, approximately 200 prisoners, including political prisoners, were transferred from Monywa Prison to Obo Prison in Mandalay. Upon arrival, prison officers and police severely beat nearly all of them with batons and sticks, resulting in serious injuries to at least 50 political prisoners. The PPNM also reports that U Aung Kyaw Oo, the Mandalay Region Parliament Speaker, a close associate of the National League for Democracy (NLD) party, died on the morning of June 27 at Obo Prison Hospital. He was arbitrarily arrested following the February 2021 military coup, part of the junta's crackdown on state leaders. The military junta continues its unlawful arrests, with 18,434 currently detained, including 145 elected parliamentarians and 2,496 NLD members, according to the NLD.

5. The Ministry of Health of the National Unity Government (NUG) is urgently seeking healthcare professionals to address a critical shortage in the Tanintharyi Region. Dr. Htoo Nay Aung, regional health officer, announced the call for applications to bolster medical services for Spring Revolution forces, local civilians, and internally displaced persons in NUG- and ERO-administered liberated areas. The NUG Ministry of Health hospitals and clinics face dire conditions, with shortages of medical specialists, general practitioners, nurses, and Basic Health Staff (BHS). Limited medical staff are under extreme pressure, struggling to provide care with scarce resources. The shortage of specialists and doctors forces patients needing comprehensive treatment to seek medical attention across the border, despite the difficulties and risks. On June 17, 2025, the Ministry of Health of NUG issued Notification No. (5/2025), launching a recruitment campaign for healthcare workers in the Tanintharyi Region, urging CDM health workers, non-CDM doctors unaffiliated with the military junta, and other healthcare professionals to apply.
