Radio NUG

A vehicle displaying the flag of the Karenni State Party (KSP), which was driving through junta-controlled checkpoints, was seized by Battalion 3504. Both the vehicle and its two occupants were later handed over to Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 2, according to an announcement by Subdivision 1 of Battalion 3504.

Acting on a public tip-off at around 5:45 p.m. on June 7, the said vehicle was intercepted and searched. Authorities found 125 sacks of rice, other food supplies, a driver and an assistant, a lower KSP uniform, a muffler, a helmet, a KSP endorsement letter, transit clearance documents, and a bullet entry point in the vehicle’s front dashboard.

The release stated that due to suspicions over the vehicle’s seemingly easy passage through junta security checkpoints under the KSP insignia, Subdivision 1 of Battalion 3504 had detained it for further scrutiny.

The vehicle and its occupants were handed over on June 9 to KNU Brigade 2 by an official with permanent committee responsibilities and a regional commander. Subsequently, on June 16, the remaining items onboard the vehicle were transferred as well, upon receiving a formal commitment letter accepting full responsibility for the associated issues, according to the statement.
