๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. Prime Minister urges all administrative levels to strictly adhere to procedural rules in implementing public administration mechanisms

June 27

Union Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than has urged that the procedural rules and regulations governing the implementation of public administration mechanisms be thoroughly upheld and followed at every level of the administrative structure.

He made this statement during the 22nd coordination meeting of the Central Committee for Interim Local Public Administration Implementation under the National Unity Government (NUG).

The Prime Minister stated:
“In the context of interim local public administration under the National Unity Government, the Sagaing Region stands out as a strong example, having successfully adopted and ratified its own interim constitutional framework through its local council. The fact that revolutionary organizations in Sagaing are now able to operate in unity is a major advantage for the revolution.

It is essential that the procedural rules and administrative guidelines be carefully observed at all levels. Everyone must diligently fulfill their responsibilities and ensure that all activities are carried out with the interests of the people as the foremost priority. Inter-ministerial coordination must also be effectively maintained,” he emphasized.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Myanmar’s UN Ambassador states that grave violations against children by the military have increased by 25% compared to 2023

June 27

At a high-level open debate held under the theme “Children and Armed Conflict” at the UN Security Council headquarters in New York, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the United Nations, stated that grave violations committed against children by the military have risen by 25% compared to the previous year, 2023.

He explained that since the military coup in February 2021, grave violations against children have significantly escalated. He made it clear to attendees that the primary perpetrator of these violations is the military junta.

Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun noted that children in Myanmar are not only being deprived of basic rights such as education and healthcare, but are also disproportionately suffering from the brutal and inhumane acts committed by the military, which is evident and undeniable.

He added that the National Unity Government (NUG) has prioritized this issue and is actively working to end these grave violations and to improve and safeguard the rights of children. To this end, he said the NUG continues to call for greater collaboration with relevant UN agencies and international partner organizations.

He urged the Security Council to take concrete and timely action to prevent the loss of children’s lives and protect their future from being destroyed.

Furthermore, he appealed to the Security Council and the international community to ensure that the people of Myanmar—especially its children—do not have their trust and hopes in the UN and the international system betrayed once again, stressing the need for urgent and decisive action.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Under international treaties, not only perpetrators but also those who authorize acts of violence are accountable

June 27

According to the Ministry of Human Rights, international treaties stipulate that not only those who directly commit acts of violence, but also those who authorize or permit such actions, bear responsibility.

Based on the data collected by the Ministry of Human Rights, it was revealed that since the attempted coup in 2021, the violent military junta has committed various forms of brutality during arrests and interrogations of civilians—including women and children—resulting in a total of 385 documented incidents, some of which led to fatalities.

“The suffering endured by victims of torture remains ongoing. The military junta continues to carry out acts of torture across the country. Victims urgently need support, and it is crucial to address the long-term impacts of such violence, which can resonate through generations. This includes the need for comprehensive psychosocial support systems to help victims cope with both physical and mental trauma, as well as healthcare interventions.

Furthermore, in order to prevent the recurrence of such atrocities, it is vital to establish legal accountability mechanisms that hold the military and other armed groups to international legal standards,” said U Aung Myo Min, NUG’s Minister of Human Rights.
