๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Schools Will Reopen Only When Safety Standards Are Fully Met, Says Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe

Radio NUG

“Schools are being inspected to ensure they provide a safe and secure learning environment. Only when safety requirements are fully met will the schools be reopened,” said Union Minister Prof. Dr. Zaw Wai Soe during the People to People program, speaking on behalf of both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health under the NUG.

“As everyone knows, in areas like Ohn Taw, students and teachers have lost their lives. We cannot accept the recurrence of such tragedies. We cannot afford to lose a single student. Because of this, we are temporarily suspending in-person classes and taking time to ensure that schools and localities can offer reliable safety,” the Minister explained.

“This does not mean education is being halted. During this temporary suspension, we are inspecting all the required safety measures for schools. Once these standards are fully met, schools will reopen. We are already implementing these plans region by region, and state by state,” he added.

Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe also stated that township-level Education Boards—including those from Pa Ka Pha, Pa La Pha, and Pa Ah Pha—are coordinating together and that reopening will proceed in accordance with systematic plans.

He further emphasized that schools will only reopen when 100% of safety criteria are fulfilled, including:

  • Implementation of Early Warning Systems,
  • Establishment of bomb shelters in every school,
  • And proper air-raid defense training for staff and students.

The Ministry of Human Rights of the NUG has systematically documented human rights violations committed by the terrorist military junta and released four public Data Dashboards to enable real-time study and reference by the public, according to Minister U Aung Myo Min.

“The first dashboard released was the Unlawful Conscription Watch Dashboard, which records incidents following the junta’s unlawful conscription law. It details how youths were increasingly targeted and arbitrarily detained. The dashboard provides data on the total number of forced conscription incidents, number of individuals detained, as well as location-based and time-based breakdowns,” the Minister stated.

The Ministry, prioritizing its duty to document human rights violations, has also published dashboards cataloging types of human rights violations (LOVs) by year, month, and incident.

Additionally, it released the Massacres by Military Junta Data Dashboard, which compiles comprehensive data on mass killings perpetrated by the junta, allowing for public research and referencing.

“In order to ensure justice and bring an end to the impunity surrounding these crimes, the Ministry of Human Rights is committed to taking decisive action in line with strong international standards and will continue all efforts with utmost dedication,” Minister U Aung Myo Min affirmed.

June 2
Radio NUG

On the morning of June 2—designated as Baho Day—a commemorative ceremony was held at the statue of Major Baho in Launglon Township to mark the 80th anniversary of his martyrdom. The event was led by the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC), according to its official report.

The ceremony included several commemorative activities, such as laying wreaths, paying respects to Major Baho, and observing a one-minute silence to honor not only Major Baho but also all fallen heroes who gave their lives in the struggle for Myanmar’s independence and successive movements for democracy.

Major Baho, a distinguished native of Dawei, sacrificed his life for Myanmar’s independence on the night of June 2, 1945. In recognition of his legacy, June 2 has been designated as “Baho Day” by the DDMSC since June 2, 2022.

The committee further stated that it will continue advocating for “Baho Day” to be officially recognized as a public holiday at the state level in the future Federal Union of Myanmar.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 7. Three Civilians and Two Children Fleeing from Food Shortages in Kan Ni Pyu Saw Htee Village Safely Evacuated

June 2
Radio NUG

According to a statement released by the No. (15) Battalion of Pakokku District, on May 30, the battalion assisted and safely evacuated three civilians and two children who had fled from Kan Ni Pyu Saw Htee Village, in coordination with the same battalion.

The civilians had reportedly escaped from Kan Ni Village due to a severe food shortage. Although many villagers are planning to flee the area, it is reported that Kyaw San Win, the Pyu Saw Htee leader of the village, along with junta troops stationed there, have been issuing threats to deter them from leaving.

Supplies sent to the village are not being distributed to civilians, but are instead being sold by Kyaw San Win and the responsible junta officers. They are reportedly charging 8,000 MMK per pyi (a traditional unit of rice), with each person being allowed to purchase only two beer bottles-worth of rice per day.

Those who have fled from the village stated that oppressive behavior by the military officers stationed there has also triggered unrest and discontent among the Pyu Saw Htee members themselves.

June 2
Radio NUG

CDM Medical Network has announced that six purchasers of U Min Ko Naing’s book “Collar Shay Shay Ka Lan Lan” will be selected through a lucky draw to receive six original paintings.

The entirety of the proceeds from the sale of “Collar Shay Shay Ka Lan Lan” will be dedicated to the rehabilitation of earthquake-affected populations in revolutionary zones, as well as to support revolutionary organizations and CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) groups.

As the book is a limited edition with only 1,300 copies (numbered from 1/1300 to 1300/1300), purchasers may select and request their preferred copy number when placing an order. However, once a particular number is sold, it cannot be purchased again—hence the advance notice and request for understanding.

Importantly, six lucky numbers from among the 1,300 copies will be drawn from the pool of buyers, and those six selected will each receive an original painting.

Interested buyers can purchase the book only from CDM Medical Network between May 27 and June 27.
