๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Two Consecutive Days of Attacks on Junta Column in Natmauk Township

In Natmauk Township, Magway Region, a joint column of junta troops, police, and Pyu Saw Htee militia was attacked for two consecutive days, according to a statement from the Nga Pyae Ma Pyaung Kyarr resistance group.

On July 17, the column of approximately 150 troops was ambushed near Butaung and Bataung, between Kanpyo village and Kwin Gyi village, using 60mm and 40mm mortars and .30-06 rifles, according to the report.

On the following day, July 18, another clash broke out between the junta forces and allied revolutionary forces near Thamone Kone Gyi village and Kular Shin village. As a result, the junta’s column was forced to change its direction of advance, according to field reports.

This coordinated attack was jointly carried out by Nga Pyae Ma Battalion of Thayet District (Unit 3), Natmauk People’s Defence Force (Pa Ka Pha), and Daung Sit Thar resistance force. The report notes that the number of casualties on the junta’s side is still being verified.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Revolutionary Forces Storm Pyu Saw Htee Camps in Ayadaw Township

In Ayadaw Township, Sagaing Region, two Pyu Saw Htee camps located in Ngwe Dwin Pyu village were stormed and attacked by revolutionary forces, resulting in the death of one Pyu Saw Htee member, according to a statement by the Ngwe Dwin Revolution Force.

The assault took place on July 17, and was jointly conducted by:

  • Monywa District Battalion 21,
  • Battalion 16,
  • Operation Units 9, 10, and 11,
  • Special Attack Force of Monywa Pa Ka Pha,
  • Danger Force, and
  • Ngwe Dwin Revolution Force.

According to ground reports, one Pyu Saw Htee member was killed, and five others were seriously injured in the attack.

During the five-hour battle, the junta's Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 10, stationed in Ayadaw, launched four rounds of artillery support. One revolutionary fighter sustained injuries due to a landmine, but the resistance forces successfully recovered four buried landmines planted in Ngwe Dwin Pyu village.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Bomb Attack on Junta Bunker Gate Near Clock Tower in Taungtha Leaves One Police Officer Dead, Two Injured

At around 2:30 PM on July 18, a bomb was thrown at a junta security bunker gate near the Clock Tower in Taungtha Town, targeting a military checkpoint guarding an economic bank, according to the Taungtha People’s Defense Force.

This was carried out as a covert resistance mission. The explosion resulted in the death of one police officer and serious injuries to two others. All revolutionary fighters were reportedly able to retreat safely without harm.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Four Hostages and One Monk Rescued from Junta Custody in Ayadaw Township

In Ayadaw Township, Sagaing Region, four local hostages and one Buddhist monk who had been detained by junta forces were successfully rescued, according to a statement by the Pa Ka Pha of Budalin Township.

At around 10:00 a.m. on July 17, joint People’s Defense Forces launched an attack on two junta units stationed with around 100 troops at Myay Nat village's monastery and nunnery. The clash reportedly ended around 5:00 p.m. that day.

During the battle, junta forces sustained significant casualties and retreated to Ngwe Dwin Pyu village, abandoning the four civilians and one monk they had previously detained as hostages, who were then rescued.

It was noted that the junta troops had been stationed at the monastery and nunnery for about three days, and the revolutionary forces were able to reclaim control of the area.

According to the rescued hostages, junta troops suffered heavy losses, leading to their withdrawal. However, one revolutionary fighter reportedly lost a leg after stepping on a landmine during the operation.

This mission was a coordinated effort involving:

  • Budalin Township Pa Ka Pha,
  • District Pa Ka Pha forces,
  • Monywa District Battalion 20 BOB,
  • Ayadaw Township Pa Ka Pha and District Forces,
  • Monywa District Operation Unit 66, and
  • Koke Khin Operation Unit of Ye-U Township.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Junta Arbitrarily Detains Civilians on Shopping Trips in Nyaunglebin

According to a statement by the Karen National Union (KNU), three civilians traveling to Nyaunglebin Town for market purposes were arbitrarily detained by junta troops in Bago Region.

On July 4, Naing Lin Htun (aka Kyet Ko Lar, age 35) and U San Lwin (age 53) from Inn Nat village, Letdo Township, were arrested by junta soldiers while transporting goods to the market in Nyaunglebin. Their families have had no contact with them since.

Similarly, on July 12, Saw Aung Myint Lay (age 31) from Boepaisa village, Sawhti Township, was arrested at Thatu Bridge by junta’s Light Infantry Battalion 20 while heading to Nyaunglebin for shopping.

In addition, on July 10, junta troops launched a drone strike using a heavy weapon on a location housing internally displaced persons from Lelwaingyi village.

On July 11, the junta troops based in Kyauk Tan Khar Town fired three artillery shells at Chway Ta Le village and one shell toward the western part of Kholon village. At the same time, Light Infantry Battalion 264 based in Paing Zaloke fired three 120mm shells into fields east of Nwar Yay Chaung village.

On July 13, Light Infantry Battalion 264 again fired artillery:

  • Three shells into fields near Pha Ya Ngote Toe village,
  • One shell into fields near Ngaphe Inn village, and
  • Two shells into Doe Tan village.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Man Killed by Landmine and Five Civilians Injured by Artillery in Hpakant

In Kachin State, near the Hpakant–Seik Mu road, a man collecting jade was killed by a landmine, and five civilians were injured by artillery shelling, according to local sources.

At around 1:30 p.m. on July 18, two jade pickers encountered a landmine near the entrance of the Ever Winner Company in Yuma village. One of them was killed. His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Reports suggest junta troops were stationed inside the company compound, though this has not been independently verified.

At around 4:00 p.m., an artillery shell exploded near the road junction between Hpakant High School, Byuha Hill, and the police station, injuring:

  • One woman selling ice cream,
  • Two women from a sports equipment shop, and
  • Two men riding a motorcycle.

At around 5:40 p.m. the same evening, junta forces reportedly carried out an aerial bombing raid on Hpakant Town. Further details have yet to be confirmed.

Although minor skirmishes between junta forces and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Kachin People’s Defense Force (KPDF) have occurred in the Hpakant area, no large-scale clashes have been reported recently.
