🚩🚩 1. Chin Council Urges Immediate Halt to Military Preparations and Avoidance of Armed Conflict Between Chin Ethnic Groups
July 4
The Chinland Council has issued a call for the immediate suspension of all military mobilizations and for restraint in order to prevent armed conflict among Chin ethnic groups.
This appeal came through a statement released on the evening of July 3, following clashes between the Chin Defence Force (CDF-Hualngoram) and the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF).
The Chinland Council urged leaders from both sides to avoid igniting large-scale, irreparable military conflict between Chin brethren, and called on both forces to mutually recognize territorial boundaries, halt military build-ups, and return to their respective bases.
According to the statement, the Chinland Council is working to advance the elimination of military dictatorship, the unity of the entire Chin nation, and the realization of the full right to self-determination and autonomous governance for Chin Indigenous people, through a balanced military and political strategy.
The Council noted that this is a sensitive period aimed at reconciling current internal divisions and facilitating the emergence of the Chin National Council, which would represent all Chin people.
It stated that the ongoing fighting began because CNO/CNDF forces launched an offensive into the territory of Hualngoram People’s Organization, a member of the Chinland Council.
Such military action, the Council emphasized, undermines the efforts toward Chin national unity and state-building, and may jeopardize the process of establishing the Chin National Council.
Given that CDF-Hualngoram and CNDF both share the common objective of resisting the military dictatorship, the Chin Brotherhood Network also urged them to meet, negotiate, and resolve the issue peacefully.
