📌📌 1. The National Unity Government Honors Student Youths Who Continue to Lead the Fight Against Injustice
July 7
Radio NUG
The National Unity Government (NUG) has commended the student and youth community, which has always stood at the forefront of resisting injustice, for once again leading with courage from the front lines of today’s revolution in unity with the people. This message was conveyed in a statement issued on July 7, marking the 63rd Anniversary of the July 7 Student Uprising.
The message recalls that on March 2, 1962, the military junta led by the dictator Ne Win not only forcefully ousted the democratically elected civilian government, but also abolished the University Act, suppressed students’ freedoms, and violently bombed the historic Student Union building within the Rangoon University campus.
These actions, the statement says, were part of an effort to crush the democratic spirit and freedom of students. Yet, as the revered teacher and mentor Thakin Kodaw Hmaing once said:
“You may demolish the union building, but no one can ever destroy the union spirit within our hearts.”
Although decades have passed, that spirit of unity still lives on in the hearts of Myanmar’s student youth. It continues to fuel successive waves of resistance and has become a visible force in every revolutionary era, the NUG emphasized.
The statement also noted that during the Spring Revolution that began in 2021, the military group led by the current junta leader Min Aung Hlaing attempted another illegal power grab from the elected civilian government. That period has since become one of the most repressive chapters in Myanmar’s history, marked by widespread fascist violence, including:
- Armed threats and mass arrests of students, monks, and ethnic minorities
- Extrajudicial killings
- Arbitrary imprisonment
- Widespread arson targeting homes and properties of civilians.
Despite such atrocities, today’s student youth—true heirs to their predecessors—have once again courageously taken leadership roles in the front lines of the revolution, working hand-in-hand with the people. Their unity, innovation, and ability to collaborate with ethnic resistance organizations have posed an existential threat to the junta’s fascist machinery, which is now steadily weakening. The statement concluded with strong confidence that the revolution is marching steadily toward victory.

📌📌 2. Union Parliament Representative Committee Issues Message on the 63rd Anniversary of the July 7 Student Movement
July 7
Radio NUG
The Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) issued a commemorative message on the 63rd Anniversary of the July 7 Student Movement, noting that the military regime led by dictator Ne Win had imposed a set of 22 restrictive regulations on university students. These oppressive rules led to widespread protests by students and student unions, culminating in the historic July 7, 1962 crackdown.
The message emphasized that July 7 is a date of profound significance in Myanmar’s history—both as a day that gave rise to heroic student martyrs who sacrificed their lives for democracy, and as a day that exposed the brutal violence of the military dictatorship to the world.
Throughout Myanmar’s modern history, students have always stood at the forefront of the struggle against injustice, the CRPH highlighted. In the ongoing Spring Revolution, today’s generation of student youths has continued this legacy, sacrificing their lives and futures in the fight to bring down the military dictatorship.
Their commitment, sense of duty, and leadership in the national liberation movement have become a powerful force for change in Myanmar, the statement noted.
The CRPH further emphasized that although student youths have been subjected to torture, repression, and killings by successive military regimes, their unwavering revolutionary spirit remains intact. No dictatorship has ever succeeded in extinguishing this spirit. On this anniversary, the CRPH pays its deepest respect and homage to the student martyrs of July 7 and all other generations of student heroes who gave their lives for democracy.
The message concluded by underscoring that if the people remain united, no dictatorship can stand. It warned against the junta’s deliberate attempts to sow division among the people along ethnic and communal lines and urged all citizens to remain vigilant and reject such divisive tactics with wisdom and foresight.

📌📌 3. Military Solutions Are Not a Justifiable Choice Amid Ongoing Efforts for Chin-Chin Dialogue, Says MP Dr. Ngai Tam Maung
July 7
Radio NUG
At a time when efforts are underway to resolve the conflict between Chin ethnic groups through dialogue and mutual understanding, the use of military means—by any side—is not a justifiable or legitimate option, according to Dr. Ngai Tam Maung, Member of the National Parliament representing Chin State Constituency No. 6.
“Military solutions are only warranted in situations where all other options have been exhausted, and there is no possible way left to resolve a problem.
But right now, when dialogue is still possible between Chin groups, choosing to rely on military means is not the right decision, no matter who chooses it,” he emphasized.
He continued:
“From any perspective, continued military confrontation does not bring any benefit to the cause of Chin national identity or to the Chin people. Therefore, decisions should be made based on what is beneficial to the Chin public, and both sides should opt for negotiation and mutual engagement.”
Dr. Ngai Tam Maung further urged the armed leaders on both sides to make responsible decisions guided by this undeniable truth: military action will only result in loss and destruction for the Chin people and their national cause.
