August 14
In Karenni State and Pekhon, indiscriminate airstrikes and artillery shelling by the terrorist military during July killed 21 civilians and injured 43 others, according to the Karenni Civil Society Network (KCSN).
The KCSN, which issues monthly reports, released its latest update today, August 14, detailing the junta’s violations. The statement said that during July, the military’s attacks killed civilians in Pekhon, Loikaw, Demoso, and Hpasawng Townships, and that one person was also arrested.
Reported property damage included 4 buildings destroyed in Loikaw, 7 in Demoso, 24 in Pekhon, and 14 in Hpasawng.
The KCSN noted that these casualties occurred after the junta recaptured Mobye on July 1 and subsequently escalated air and artillery attacks. The group assessed that the junta aims to seize control of transportation routes in northern Karenni and to disrupt revolutionary forces by carrying out airstrikes on Hpasawng and Mawchi mines, which provide support to the resistance.

π©π© 2. Ta’ang Civil Society Groups Accuse China of Enabling Junta’s War Crimes Through Arms Support
August 14
Ta’ang civil society organizations have accused the Chinese government of aiding the terrorist junta in committing war crimes by supplying it with weapons.
In a joint statement on August 13, the organizations condemned the daily, deliberate aerial bombardments by the junta on populated areas and directly linked them to ongoing war crimes.
The signatories included the Ta’ang Students and Youth Union (TSYU), Ta’ang Legal Aid Foundation (TLAF), Ta’ang Women’s Organization (TWO), Ta’ang Education Institute (TEI), Ta’ang Health Organization (THO), and Ta’ang Environmental Watch Group (TEWG).
They stated that under the pretext of reclaiming townships under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) and holding elections, the junta has been carrying out intentional and targeted airstrikes daily on towns and villages with dense civilian populations.
Between June and August 13—a period of just over two months—56 civilians, including 13 children, were killed, and 136 civilians, including 8 children, were injured in Momeik, Kutkai, Hsipaw, Monglon, Mongngawt, Kyaukme, and Nawnghkio Townships, all under PSLF/TNLA control.
The attacks also destroyed 218 civilian homes, 8 schools, 8 religious buildings, 3 hospitals, 3 hotels, and 23 other structures.
The statement further alleged that China, in cooperation with the terrorist junta, is exerting political and military pressure to return TNLA-controlled areas. This includes cutting off consumer goods and food supplies, blocking essential medicines, restricting border trade, and severing communications.
Moreover, they accused China of providing the junta with modern weapons and technology, thereby empowering it to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The Ta’ang civil society organizations called for:
- An immediate halt by all countries, businesses, and neighboring states to the supply of modern weapons and military equipment—including aviation fuel—to the junta.
- Effective economic sanctions against cronies and foreign states that support the junta for profit.
- Prompt prosecution of the junta by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for flagrant violations of international law.
- Effective humanitarian assistance for all civilians affected by the conflict.
- Continued recognition and cooperation with federal units and interim local governments to advance the construction of a future federal democratic Myanmar.
