It has been reported that the National Unity Government (NUG), Ministry of Defense, convened a meeting between the Pa Ka Pha Headquarters–Central Leading Committee and the State/Regional People’s Defense Forces (Pa Ka Pha) on August 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Deputy Minister U Maung Maung Swe of the NUG Ministry of Defense attended the meeting. The Nay Pyi Taw People’s Defense Force also participated, presenting updates on their activities and current operational situation, while receiving guidance during the discussions.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Over a Hundred Junta Soldiers Defect and Hundreds Killed in Myoing and Pauk Townships

According to the Myoing People’s Defense Force, revolutionary forces launched counterattacks against junta military columns advancing into Myoing and Pauk Townships of Magway Region. These battles resulted in the deaths of hundreds of junta troops and the defection of over 100 soldiers with their weapons.
Since May 27, revolutionary joint forces have been intercepting a major junta military column, comprising over 1,000 troops with more than 140 vehicles, deployed under Military Division 101 based in Pakokku. It is reported that over 300 junta soldiers have been killed since the campaign began.
In addition, many others were wounded. More than 100 junta soldiers defected with their weapons. Among them were district-level officers and majors. Those who expressed a wish to return home have been safely transported back, while those determined to fight against the junta are now receiving specialized training.
The defectors are being organized into battalions and units, undergoing political and moral reorientation to restore their original integrity. They are also being guided to embrace a people-centered mindset, with efforts to reintegrate them effectively into the revolutionary movement.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 3. 17 Junta Soldiers Killed Near Kaw Hline Village in Ye Phyu Township

The Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF) reported that resistance forces ambushed a junta military column near Kaw Hline Village, Ye Phyu Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, killing 17 soldiers and injuring at least 7 others.
The attack occurred on August 15, around 4:00 PM, when a joint revolutionary alliance engaged a junta column of about 150 troops near Kaw Hline Village.
By around 6:00 PM, the junta forces were forced to retreat in disarray, leaving behind 17 dead soldiers and at least 7 wounded.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. Civilian Killed by Navy Shelling in Kyaukphyu, Junta Forces Torch Thapyutaung Village

According to Arakan Princess Media, a civilian was killed when a junta navy vessel fired heavy artillery into Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State.
On the night of August 14, around 8:00 PM, the navy fired five artillery rounds in the direction of Lepkhamaw Old Village.
As a result of the shelling, U Khin Maung Chit, a 40-year-old resident of Lepkhamaw Village, was killed instantly, while 14 cows belonging to five different villagers also died.
Furthermore, on August 16, around 12:30 PM, junta forces entered and set fire to Thapyutaung Village, Kyaukphyu Township.
It was reported that troops from Infantry Battalion 543 (Kha Ma Ya 543), based in Kyaukphyu, carried out the arson attack. Several civilian homes were destroyed in the fire, and further details are still under investigation, according to Arakan Princess Media.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Junta’s Y-12 Aircraft Bombs Taung Yar Monastery on the Border of Pauk and Myoing Townships

On August 15, around 3:00 PM, the junta military used a Y-12 aircraft to bomb Taung Yar Monastery, located on the border between Pauk and Myoing Townships in Magway Region, dropping six bombs.
The explosions caused severe damage to monastery buildings, including the collapse of several structures. Two bombs directly hit the ordination hall and the Dhamma hall, according to a statement from the TYK Guerrilla Force.
It was further noted that on August 12, the same monastery had also come under attack from junta fighter jets and helicopter gunships. Fortunately, no civilian casualties were reported in either attack.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) Marks Its 54th Anniversary at Headquarters

The Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) celebrated the 54th anniversary of its founding on August 16 at the party’s headquarters in Kyauk Taing, alongside the Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA).
The ceremony was attended by over 1,000 participants, including SSPP/SSA Chairman General Sai Htin and central committee members, departmental officials, women’s organizations, female combat units, cadets from military academies, representatives of political parties, military columns on display, and local residents from nearby communities.
In his opening address, General Sai Htin spoke about the historical origins of the SSPP, the revolutionary journey of the Shan State Army (SSA), and the political stance of the party.
Additionally, a congratulatory message from the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD) was read aloud by one of the ceremony’s officials.
The SSPP was founded on August 16, 1971, with the aim of leading the revolutionary struggle of the Shan State Army (SSA).

๐ฉ๐ฉ 7. Communist Party of Burma (CPB) Commemorates Its 86th Anniversary

The Communist Party of Burma (CPB) commemorated the 86th anniversary of its founding with a ceremony held in a military-controlled area of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), according to a PLA statement.
The party anniversary event, held on August 15, was combined with the graduation ceremony of Battalion 1 under PLA Military Zone 1.
The program included a flag salute, oath of allegiance, singing of the international revolutionary anthem, awarding of outstanding trainees, promotion ceremonies, and the reading of the CPB’s 86th founding anniversary declaration.
Following the ceremony, PLA members also organized a charity event, providing nutritious mohinga and traditional bean-paste snacks to children at a village school.
