๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. NUG’s Ministry of Human Rights Details Fatal Airstrike on NUG Public Hospital by Military Junta, Killing 5 Civilians Including Children

August 1

The National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Human Rights has released details of a deadly airstrike by the military junta targeting the NUG-run public hospital, resulting in the deaths of five civilians, including children.

On the night of July 29, between 10:25 PM and 10:33 PM, the junta launched two consecutive airstrikes on the Charging Hospital, a facility opened by the NUG Ministry of Health for civilians in eastern Kantbalu Township, Kantbalu District, Sagaing Region.

One of the bombs directly struck the patient ward where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were receiving treatment. Among the victims were a four-year-old child, an elderly person, and two women—bringing the total death toll to five civilians.

Additionally, multiple hospital staff and patients were seriously injured. Toxic gas released during the explosion caused symptoms such as dizziness and vomiting. Critical infrastructure inside the hospital—such as surgical theaters, X-ray rooms, and essential medical equipment—were heavily damaged. The staff living quarters and training buildings also sustained significant destruction.

The NUG Ministry of Human Rights reaffirmed its commitment to equality, peace, and justice, and declared that it would work relentlessly to hold the military perpetrators accountable under all available legal mechanisms.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Three New Military Conscripts Flee Junta Army Camp and Are Detained

August 1

Three newly recruited junta soldiers who fled from a military camp in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region, have been captured and detained, according to personnel from Shwebo District Battalion 15.

The escapees were conscripts from Military Battalion 148, which was stationed at a monastery in Wetlet Township. They fled during deployment and were later apprehended.

The three were identified as conscripts from batch 10, who had been drafted due to losing in the conscription lottery and had no weapons with them when they fled.

An officer named Bo Kyauk Yo, commander of Battalion 15 in Shwebo District, stated:

"They seemed terrified. One of them brought his wife, whose name I forgot. They have two children and she is currently pregnant. We've treated them well and provided necessary medical assistance."

Since the third week of July, the junta has resumed military operations in Thabeikkyin Township, which is under resistance control, resulting in ongoing clashes. Resistance forces and the NUG have urged forcibly conscripted soldiers to contact revolutionary groups and seek immediate refuge with the people.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Setottara Township PDF Warns of Severe Penalties for Collaborators and Mobilizers of Junta's Sham Election

August 1

The People’s Defense Force in Setottara Township has issued a stern warning that those who participate in, support, or help organize the military junta’s planned sham election—which aims to prolong its authoritarian rule—will face serious consequences.

The statement, released on August 1, specifically warns local residents not to participate in or assist with the junta’s fake electoral process, which the military is orchestrating to validate its illegal grip on power.

The Setottara PDF emphasized that the military violently seized power on February 1, 2021, by arresting the country’s elected leaders—including the President and State Counsellor—thus dismantling the democratically elected government and violating the will of the people.

The junta cited alleged electoral fraud in the 2020 general election as a pretext for arresting civilian government officials through unlawful means. Following the coup, widespread and peaceful protests were violently suppressed by the junta, with protesters being shot, arrested, and killed.

As the people could no longer tolerate the junta’s crimes, they took up arms in resistance. Now, over four years into the revolution, resistance forces and political analysts believe that the junta is militarily and politically failing, with no viable path forward.

To maintain its grip on power, the military regime is attempting to deceive both the domestic public and the international community by staging a pseudo-democratic election.

The Setottara Township PDF therefore urges the public not to take part in, support, or mobilize for this sham election. The group warned that anyone found collaborating will face severe punishment, and officially issued this warning to deter future involvement.
