๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. AA Troops Discover Two Temporary RIM Camps with Weapons and Ammunition in Maungdaw

According to AB News, on August 17 at around 7:30 a.m., members of the Arakan Army (AA) conducted clearance operations in the hills east of Bodali Old Village, Maungdaw Township, searching for terrorist groups.

During the search, at approximately 9:11 a.m., they discovered a temporary camp manned by about eight members of the Rohingya insurgent group RIM (Rohingya Islamic Movement), along with weapons and ammunition. However, no members were present at the time.

Later, at around 12:14 p.m., another RIM temporary camp with about seven members was found 480 meters northeast of the first camp, again containing weapons and ammunition.

Items seized from these camps included: 4 uniforms, 5 belts, 1 handmade pistol, 3 rounds of ammunition, 1 handmade landmine, 1 mine detonator, 4 nine-volt batteries, 2 wire coils, 3 digital devices, 3 bottles of SG.406 liquid, 4 containers of rice (5-gallon each), 6 cooking pots, 1 G-phone, and 1 backpack.

It is reported that groups such as ARSA, RIM, and RSO are mainly active on the Bangladeshi side but have been entering northern Maungdaw Township to ambush AA forces, kidnap civilians, and commit killings.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Clash Breaks Out Between Junta Troops and TNLA in Naungpain, Kyaukme Township; Junta Uses Drone Attack on Town

According to local sources, on the morning of August 19, heavy clashes broke out between junta ground forces and joint units of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Naungpain area, Kyaukme Township, northern Shan State.

Around 700 junta soldiers from Division 11 advanced from Naungcho through Gote Twin Creek, passing via Htan Ta Pin village and entering six neighborhoods in southern Naungpain village, where they encountered TNLA forces, sparking intense fighting.

In Htan Ta Pin village, junta forces detained three local men who had gone outside to spray pesticides, after previously forbidding villagers from leaving their homes.

Meanwhile, in Kyaukme town itself, at around 10:00 a.m., junta troops carried out a suicide drone attack. The drone, however, crashed inside the town.

Currently, residents and internally displaced people from villages along the Naungpain frontline and the Union Highway are fleeing towards Ponwoe and Hekwi areas. Emergency assistance is urgently needed.

It was also reported that on August 18, junta forces carried out artillery and drone bombings on Lon Gyaing, Kyaungkone, and Pintain villages near Naungpain, killing one civilian and injuring a novice monk from Nammine Monastery.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. KPDF Ambushes Junta Patrol in Namma, Killing 2 Soldiers and Capturing 2 Alive; Vehicle Seized from SNA Camp and Destroyed in Mohnyin Township

In Namsalaw area of Namma town, Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, joint forces of the People’s Defense Force (KPDF) ambushed a junta patrol on August 18 morning. Two junta soldiers were killed, two captured alive, and one firearm seized, according to military reports.

During the same clash, KPDF units also set fire to and destroyed a vehicle being used by junta troops.

Additionally, on the morning of August 18, junta aircraft dropped five bombs near Kasut village.

On that same day, joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked a junta and Shan Ni Army (SNA) base in Mainaung village, Mohnyin Township. During the assault, a vehicle belonging to the SNA was captured and subsequently destroyed by fire.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. At least 10 villages in Seikphyu and Pakokku Townships bombed by the junta, no fewer than 11 civilians killed

In Seikphyu and Pakokku Townships of Pakokku District, Magway Region, the junta carried out repeated aerial bombardments using Y-12 aircraft, killing no fewer than 11 civilians, according to the Anyar Lay People’s Defense Joint Forces.

On August 19, around 11:30 a.m., seven villages in Seikphyu Township—including Sha Hla and Kyun Taw—were bombed. Civilian homes were destroyed, and at least 10 people were killed, reports said.

During the Sha Hla village airstrike, 4 civilians were killed, while 1 was critically injured and 2 others sustained minor injuries. In Kyun Taw village, 3 civilians were killed and many others were injured.

Additionally, due to the junta’s large-scale ground offensive in Seikphyu Township, villagers from Paing, Wun Gyi, Sha Hla, Kyun Taw, Ayi Gyi, Kyun Chaung, Phalan Ma, Kan Sone Ma, and Thone Lan Pyay villages have been forced to flee for safety.

Similarly, on August 18, around 7 p.m., the junta’s Y-12 aircraft dropped at least six bombs on Pantawkan, Chetkan, and Taipinkan villages in Pakokku Township.

During that attack, 1 woman in Pantawkan village was killed, and 4 people were injured in Pantawkan and Chetkan villages.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. One civilian killed in junta airstrike in Kyaikhto Township

In Kyaikhto Township, Mon State, villages located in areas under the control of the Karen National Union (KNU) were bombarded by the junta’s air force and shelled with heavy and light weapons. As a result, 1 civilian was killed and 5 others injured, according to the KNU’s statement.

On August 9, at 9:25 a.m., without any ongoing clashes, the junta’s Yak-130 jet dropped a bomb on Pein Ne Kone village of Pyin Ka Toe Kone village tract.

In that incident, 1 civilian was killed, 4 others were injured, and 5 houses, 3 cars, and 3 motorcycles were destroyed.

Furthermore, on August 11, at 12:15 p.m., the junta’s Infantry Battalion (IB) 44 headquarters fired a 120mm heavy artillery shell between Winthaung and Kyaukpone villages in Kyauk Lone Gyi village tract.

Later that day, around 3:30 p.m., combined forces from junta units LIB-8 and LIB-3 entered Chaung Pyant village and fired small arms. As a result, a 50-year-old man named Naw Pan Gyi was injured.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Two civilians injured by junta artillery strikes in Demoso Township; rice mill and school destroyed

At around 11:30 p.m. on August 18, the junta launched continuous artillery strikes on Daw Bu Kho village, Demoso Township, Kayah State. According to KPV News, a father and daughter (one male, one female) were injured in the shelling.

The artillery also struck and destroyed a rice mill in Daw Bu Kho village and a school in Daw Ka Mee village.

Earlier the same day, in the morning of August 18, the junta carried out a ground offensive into Demoso town, using heavy artillery, drones, and armored vehicles.

On August 16, junta troops from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 102, based at Ngwe Taung, fired around 100 artillery shells toward the western part of Demoso Township.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. KNU/KNLA awards Certificates of Honor to 24 FFD fighters for outstanding bravery in capturing Maneplaw outpost

The Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army (KNU/KNLA) Central Command has awarded Certificates of Honor to 24 members of the Force for Federal Democracy (FFD), including their commander, for their exceptional courage and contribution in the battle to capture the junta’s Maneplaw (Point 913) outpost.

According to FFD, the fighters were recognized for fighting with determination and effectiveness during the operation to reclaim the junta outpost. The Certificates of Honor were issued under the name of KNLA Commander-in-Chief, General Saw Johnny, dated July 5.

The 24 honored fighters are:
Saw Lay Htoo (Commander), Kyazan, Shwe Ge, Win Tharaphy Thwe (Crown), Kornic, Kaka, Saw Wah Do, Ko Htet, Maung Khine, Maung Maung, Min Galon, Ke Ke, Danger, SKY Mauk Kwan, Hein Khant, GYM, VJay, Harvey, Fatty, Ko Hein, Jame, ICE, AK, and Smoke.

Though they have only limited combat experience, the recognition and honor from the KNU/KNLA Central Command was described as a great source of pride and joy for the FFD fighters.
