๐๐ 1. Chinland Government to Launch M.B.,B.S Program
To address the acute shortage of healthcare human resources and to expand access to medical care across Chinland, the Government of Chinland has announced the opening of a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.,B.S) training program.
The course, set to begin in 2026, will be jointly conducted by the Interim University Council of University of Medicine 1 and the Ministry of Health and Sports of the Government of Chinland. Applications for the program are now open.
The course will span six years of academic training followed by one year of housemanship (clinical internship). A total of 30 students will be accepted, and training will take place within medical institutions located in Chinland.
Classes are scheduled to commence in January 2026, and the application deadline is 4:00 PM, September 30.
Application forms can be obtained either through local administrative or health representatives or by requesting a Google link via the Facebook Messenger of the Ministry of Health and Sports, Government of Chinland.

๐๐ 2. Eight People Killed in Landslide Triggered by Torrential Rains in Than Daung Gyi Township
In Than Daung Gyi Township, Kayin State, torrential rains have triggered landslides and flash floods, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including children. There are still people missing, prompting urgent search and rescue efforts, according to local residents and the St. George’s Youth – Than Daung Gyi group.
The heavy rainfall began on August 3, and landslides occurred on August 4 and 5 in and around Than Daung Gyi.
As of now, eight fatalities have been confirmed, including children. Additionally, numerous gardens and farmland have been destroyed.
Many residential homes in Than Daung Gyi were damaged or destroyed due to the landslides. The Taungoo–Than Daung Gyi road section has also been rendered impassable by landslides and overflowing mountain streams, according to local sources.
As of today, August 6, the rain continues to fall. Roads connecting villages have been damaged, creating major transportation difficulties, and the entire Thipuki Village area has been temporarily evacuated due to the ongoing threat of landslides.
Moreover, ongoing clashes between the military junta and resistance forces in the area have led to tight military security checks at town entry and exit points, making it difficult for rescue teams and humanitarian workers to access the affected regions.

๐๐ 3. UK's Longstanding Commitments to the People of Myanmar Remain Firm, Says British Diplomatic Head
The longstanding commitments of the UK Government to Myanmar and its people remain firm and unwavering, according to Mr. Andrew Jackson, the Chargรฉ d’Affaires of the British Embassy in Yangon, speaking on August 6.
Mr. Jackson has recently assumed his duties as the acting head of the British mission in Yangon. Speaking on his appointment, he said it was an honor to serve in Myanmar on behalf of the UK Government.
He reaffirmed that, during these extremely challenging times for everyone, the UK’s long-standing commitments to the people of Myanmar remain solid and unchanged.
He added that the UK Government will continue to respond to the increasing humanitarian needs inside the country and will strive to address human rights violations wherever they occur.
Furthermore, Mr. Jackson emphasized that through the UK’s actions, they aim to help alleviate the difficulties faced by communities in the most underserved regions and provide opportunities for talented youth from Myanmar.
He expressed his hope to meet with various partners, learn, and collaborate during his tenure in Myanmar.
Mr. Jackson is a career diplomat with 35 years of experience and has previously served as the UK’s envoy in Dubai, India, Argentina, Algeria, Italy, and Norway.

๐๐ 4. Request to Rename "Dagon University Royal Road" as "Wut Yay Road" in Honor of Ma Wut Yay Aung
The Dagon University Student Union has formally requested the Dagon University Interim Council to rename “Dagon University Royal Road” as “Wut Yay Road” in honor of Ma Wut Yay Aung, representing the collective will of the university’s student body.
Ma Wut Yay Aung, a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Dagon University Student Union, passed away on July 20 due to inadequate medical care for injuries she had sustained during the revolution.
She was arrested on September 14, 2021, by the junta’s military forces for protesting against the military coup. She was initially sentenced to three years in prison under Section 505(a) and imprisoned at Insein Prison, before being transferred to Daik-U Prison. She was later brought back to Insein, where she was handed an additional four-year sentence under Section 52(a) on June 27, 2023.

On August 6, the All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU), along with allied student and labor organizations, issued a statement regarding the military junta’s planned sham elections.
The statement asserts that the junta’s fake electoral process and its outcomes will not serve the public interest but will instead perpetuate military dictatorship under the guise of legitimacy.
It emphasizes a strong belief that the revolution can only succeed if the armed resistance is united with a people’s uprising.

๐๐ 6. Myanmar Communities in Lyon, France, Hold 8888 Umbrella Strike Ahead of the 37th Anniversary
In commemoration of the upcoming 37th Anniversary of the 8888 Uprising, Myanmar communities in Lyon, France, organized an 8888 Umbrella Strike protest, according to the Yangon People’s Protest Committee.
The committee expressed its deep appreciation and respect for the participation of Myanmar nationals living in France.
As part of the movement, umbrellas were decorated with the symbol “8” made of paper tape, showing creativity and engagement. It was noted that communities from other regions where participation in Strike Markets is not yet feasible could also adopt this format and join the movement.

๐๐ 7. Two Short Documentaries from “DVB - Human Film” Selected at Peacock Film Festival to Be Screened Free at Norway’s 8888 Event
Two documentary short films that were selected as finalists at the “DVB - Human Film” Peacock Film Festival will be screened free of charge at the upcoming 8888 commemorative event in Norway.
The event will be held on August 8, and the documentaries will be part of the program, according to Daw Wut Mhone Win, Secretary-General of CRPH Support Groups Norway.
She stated, “Out of six films, we will be screening two at the 8888 event.”
The documentaries are noted for their strong storytelling and impactful presentation, and she expressed gratitude to the real-life subjects, filmmakers, and the organizing groups—DVB and Human Film—for bringing these stories to the international stage.
The screening will be free, and there will also be a discussion segment reflecting on the military coup and personal experiences from that time.
