๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Artillery Strike by Military Junta in Hpakant Kills 3 Civilians, Injures 16

According to local sources, an artillery attack by junta forces in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, has resulted in the death of 3 civilians and injuries to 16 others.

The attack occurred at around 7 PM on August 5, when artillery shells were fired from a military base on Hpakant Strategic Hill. The shells landed and exploded in Sharaw Ka Village and Yuma Village.

In Sharaw Ka Village, one male civilian was killed and a house was destroyed by fire. In Yuma Village, two civilians were killed and 16 were injured as a result of the shelling.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Police Training Battalion No. (3) in Sagaing Attacked by Drone

The Kaung Htet District Drone Unit announced that a drone attack was launched on Police Training Battalion No. (3) in Sagaing City, Sagaing Region.

On August 4 at around 3:30 PM, while police officers were assembled in formation, two 3-kg drone bombs and two 1-kg drone bombs were accurately dropped on the battalion grounds.

The attack reportedly killed 15 people on the spot, including one officer, and many others were seriously injured, including the son of a senior-ranking officer (Lt. Col. – 2-star).

The building where the officer resided was also completely destroyed in the assault.

The coordinated drone strike was carried out by a joint force including Kaung Htet District Drone Battalion No. 1844, Aung Thapyay Brothers (Kaung Htet PDF), and the Myittha People’s Defense Force.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Three Junta Soldiers Killed in Guerrilla Attack on Military Vehicle in Natogyi Township

In Natogyi Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region, a junta vehicle carrying five soldiers was ambushed by guerrilla forces, resulting in three deaths, according to a statement by Natogyi PDF Battalion 4/10.

The ambush took place at 3:12 PM on August 6, on the Kana – Pyinsi Road, where PDF members opened fire on the military vehicle.

During the attack, three junta soldiers were killed, while two managed to flee. The resistance fighters seized:

1 M79 grenade launcher

3 MA-3 assault rifles

215 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition

1 40mm grenade

1 hand grenade

5 magazines

Additionally, the vehicle used by the junta troops was set on fire and destroyed. The PDF forces reportedly retreated safely without any casualties.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Junta Police Outpost at Mile 188/7 on Expressway Attacked

According to a statement by the People’s Defence Force (PDF) Meikhtila, a junta police outpost located at Mile 188/7 on the Yangon–Mandalay Expressway was attacked.

The assault occurred at around 4:00 AM on August 5, when the PDF forces entered and launched an attack on the outpost. A close-quarters firefight ensued, lasting for about 30 minutes.

During the clash, 2 junta-affiliated police personnel were killed, and one PDF fighter from the allied forces sustained minor injuries. The resistance forces were able to retreat successfully, according to reports.

Myingyan District Battalion 8

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. 23 Junta Soldiers Defect to Resistance Forces in Tanintharyi, Kalaywa, and Pakokku Townships

A total of 23 junta troops have defected to resistance forces in Tanintharyi, Kalaywa, and Pakokku Townships, according to public announcements.

On July 30, a soldier from Battalion 557, based in Aukkine Village, Tanintharyi Region, surrendered along with his weapon to the Tanintharyi People’s Defence Force (PaKaHpa).

The defector brought with him:

1 MA2 assault rifle

1 magazine

18 bullets

He was warmly received by the resistance and will be awarded a recognition reward, sources say.

Similarly, two junta soldiers:

One from the Aung Chan Tha village outpost, and

One from the Ma Sein village outpost, both in Kalaywa Township,

Defected with weapons to Kalay District Battalion No. 9.

The two defectors handed over:

1 KO12 rifle

1 MA1 rifle

3 magazines

421 rounds of ammunition

A full set of military equipment

In recognition of their defection, Kalay District Battalion 9, in coordination with Kalaywa PaKaHpa and PaKaf (People’s Administration Committees), awarded them a total of 8 million kyats.

Additionally, between July 12 and August 5, 20 forcibly conscripted recruits from units under Military Operations Command (MOC) 101 based in Pakokku also defected, according to the Burma Revolution Rangers.
These defectors were originally conscripted from towns such as:

Sagaing

Mandalay

Yesagyo

Shwebo

Naypyidaw

They had been assigned to Light Infantry Battalions 251, 252, and 235, stationed in Pakokku, and defected in small groups over successive days.
As they had not yet been armed, they did not bring any weapons. It’s reported that they have since been reconnected with their families, and some have returned to their hometowns.
