๐๐ 1. Political prisoner dies in Thayet Prison due to denial of timely medical treatment
September 19
According to the Political Prisoners Network Myanmar (PPNM), a political prisoner passed away in Thayet Prison, Magway Region, on September 17 after prison authorities failed to provide timely medical treatment.
The deceased political prisoner was Ko Kyaw Lin Aung from Thayet Prison. He had been suffering from severe shortness of breath since September 13 and was transferred to the prison hospital. A prison doctor reportedly instructed that he be transferred to an outside hospital with sufficient medical supplies, including oxygen.
On September 14, a request was submitted to Prison Warden Soe Naung for permission to transfer Ko Kyaw Lin Aung to an outside hospital. However, the warden rejected the request, citing that the order had to go through administrative channels.
Due to the worsening of his health condition, Ko Kyaw Lin Aung was only granted permission to be transferred to an outside hospital on September 15. However, because of the delay, he passed away unnecessarily on the evening of September 17, PPNM stated.
PPNM further accused Prison Warden Soe Naung of deliberately circumventing prison laws while pretending to follow rules and systematically oppressing political prisoners.
According to PPNM records, at least 20 political prisoners and inmates have already died in 2025 due to denial of timely medical treatment.
PPNM also highlighted that unlawful detention of political prisoners, inadequate healthcare, and denial of timely medical treatment in prisons are clear violations of the fundamental right to life.
Therefore, PPNM urged those responsible to immediately halt these practices. It warned that if such actions continue without accountability, PPNM will keep exposing the perpetrators and will continue striving to ensure full justice for political prisoners.

๐๐ 2. HDCO provides mosquito nets to IDPs and locals in 12 townships
September 19
The Humanitarian Development Cooperation Office (HDCO) has provided mosquito nets for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and local residents across 12 townships.
In collaboration with the Arakan Department of Public Health and other agencies, HDCO is implementing a health program aimed at preventing mosquito-borne diseases during the monsoon season.
As part of this program, HDCO has distributed 6,850 mosquito nets to a total of 4,851 households (23,286 people) in the following townships: Buthidaung, Maungdaw, Rathedaung, Pauktaw, Ponnagyun, Paletwa, Minbya, Ann, Kyaukphyu, Ramree, Toungup, and Gwa.
HDCO explained that ongoing military air, land, and naval attacks by the Myanmar military council have destroyed civilian homes and buildings, forcing many people to flee. The growing number of IDPs, together with stagnant water from damaged structures and camps, has led to increased mosquito breeding, thereby raising the risk of outbreaks of mosquito-borne diseases.

๐๐ 4. Success of Amay Suu Painting and PDF Soldier’s Shirt Painting Auction at Yaung Ni Live in NYC
September 19
At Yaung Ni Live in NYC, two art pieces were successfully auctioned: an Amay Suu painting and a PDF soldier’s shirt painting.
“We would like to share about the two artworks auctioned at Yaung Ni Live in NYC. The first was the Amay Suu Painting, which sold for USD 11,500. This painting was created as a commemorative piece for the ceremony organized by the Nobel Prize Committee following Amay Suu’s release from house arrest in 2012. The artist who illustrated the cover and internal artwork of the book ‘Letters From Burma’—a collection of Amay Suu’s letters written during her house arrest—was also the one who drew this painting. The artwork was sent with much difficulty from inside Myanmar so it could be used in fundraising events. Since it is closely tied to Amay Suu’s life journey, it holds deep historical and symbolic value.
The second artwork was the PDF Soldier’s Shirt Painting, which sold for USD 5,000. Artist Ma Cho Eithain painted it on the shirt of a frontline PDF soldier, creatively arranging and connecting the lyrics from Lin Lin’s revolutionary song Yaung Ni. The artwork artistically captures the spirit and memory of the Spring Revolution.”
The Yaung Ni Tour organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the artists for their invaluable contributions and to the donors who generously supported the fundraising auction.
This report was contributed by Tharki and Ko Khant, Radio NUG correspondents.
