📌📌 1. Meeting between the Ministry of Justice and Township Prison Authorities, and Officials Responsible for Prisoner Management

It has been reported that the National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Justice held the Coordination Meeting (2/2025) with township prison authorities and officials responsible for prisoner management.

The meeting took place on September 15 at 10:00 AM and was attended by Union Minister of Justice U Thein Oo, Director-General U Amar Man from the Union Minister’s Office, Director-General U Myo Aung of the Prisons Department, Deputy Permanent Secretary U Joseph from the Ministry of Justice, Director U Thuta of the Prisons Department, Office Chief U Kyaw Kyaw and office members, ground-level liaison officers, prison authorities from 16 townships, and officials in charge of prisoner management.

Union Minister U Thein Oo delivered the opening address. During the meeting, pre-submitted questions from prison officials and prisoner management officers were answered by responsible authorities, followed by general discussions.

The Union Minister then endorsed the resolutions and future work plans of the meeting and gave closing remarks. The meeting adjourned at 11:06 AM Myanmar Standard Time.

📌📌 2. NUG Announces Passing of Deputy Minister U Chit Htun

The National Unity Government (NUG) has announced that U Chit Htun (also known as Ma Khu E Chit Htun), Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Federal Union Affairs, passed away due to illness on September 25, 2025.

His passing has been described as a great loss to the Karenni people and the revolutionary forces.

Since 1992, U Chit Htun had served in military, political, and diplomatic roles as a Central Committee member of the Karenni National People’s Liberation Front (KNPLF).

From April 16, 2021, he assumed the position of Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Federal Union Affairs under the NUG, where he actively worked to end the military dictatorship and build a federal democratic union.

The NUG statement honored his tireless contributions, noting that his loss is not only a heavy blow to the Karenni people but also to all revolutionary forces striving toward the federal vision.

The Ministry of Federal Union Affairs pledged to continue realizing his unfulfilled aspirations while recording his sacrifices with deep respect.

In addition, the Ministry of Human Rights, the Ministry of Defense, and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) each issued separate condolence messages on his passing.

The NUG reaffirmed its commitment to continue striving for his vision of establishing a just, free, and equal Federal Democratic Union.

📌📌 3. Women and Child Protection (WCP) Trainings Resume in Gangaw During the Conflict Period

The Ministry of Human Rights announced that in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, awareness and training sessions have been relaunched in September for local communities to advance justice for women, children, and gender-based violence survivors.

To prepare for these trainings, ground-level focal persons received instructor training once in 2024 and again in 2025, enabling the rollout of follow-up cascade trainings.

The training in Gangaw was led by a women’s human rights focal person and was attended by 34 young men and women.

The curriculum focused on key human rights fundamentals, codes of conduct, child rights, humanitarian standards of compassion, gender equality issues, as well as the Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse (PSHEA) policy.

It also included discussions on achieving gender equality, eliminating gender-based violence and discrimination, and ensuring equal opportunities in livelihoods and socio-economic participation.

📌📌 4. Worst Flood in 60 Years Hits Natmauk Township, Leaving Six Family Members Dead

According to local sources, Natmauk Township in Magway Region experienced its worst flooding in six decades due to heavy downpours and the collapse of a dam.

Flooding affected low-lying areas along the creek, including Natmauk town wards, Lay Ein Village, and Maezalipin Village. In particular, the collapse of the Aung Pan Kyun Dam near Maezalipin Village caused two houses along the creek to be swept away at around 2:00 AM on September 28, resulting in the deaths of six family members, according to Venerable Ashin Gandhama of Maezalipin Village Monastery.

Almost the entire population of Natmauk’s Zay Ward, Aung San Ward, Kan Gyi Ward, and Yan Aung Myin Ward are reported to be submerged under water.

Flooding has damaged paddy fields, sesame, cotton, sunflower, and bean plantations. With heavy rainfall now entering its fourth consecutive day, the dam collapse and overflowing creeks have made the situation increasingly severe.

📌📌 5. Myanmar Activists Protest in Front of the White House for the Release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Political Prisoners

Myanmar pro-democracy activists staged demonstrations on September 26 and 27 in front of the White House and the Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C., demanding the release of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners, while rejecting the junta’s sham election.

It was reported that protesters expressed concern over Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s poor health in detention and called for her immediate release.

Protesters also denounced the Chinese government’s declaration of support for the junta’s sham election, stating that it has aligned itself with the enemy.

The protests were organized by Women For Myanmar, D.C. Metro Area, with Myanmar activists staging consecutive demonstrations for two days in front of the White House.
